After studying mysticism for 35 or so years, I've come to the tentative conclusion that in all likelihood "seeing" "god" is much more common than expected, and that millions of people wordwide have had such experiences.

Friend Francine,
He sees you when you're sleeping.
He knows when you're awake.
He knows when you've been bad or good
So you better be good for goodness sake!

Yes that is true but realise that he is inside you too. When one becomes a witness of his own actions the SEER and the SEEN becomes one and god is no more relevant.
Yes, in that sense many have merged including buddha and Christ and so they are called god in human form and equally worshipped.

It is Catholic doctrine that there is an unbridgeable gulf between the one who creates, and his creation. It goes something like this: the creator cannot not exist. The creation may not exist.

Francine posed a very ligitimate question in asking if anyone has seen God. It is obvious from the answers given that many worship we know not what. God is NOT a "concept that cannot be seen", nor is his face merely "metaphorical." God is NOT found in mysticism, nor in Vishnu. While the light of Christ is in all men, God is NOT "everywhere I look", nor is he found "inside all of us."

The world truly is confused. There ARE those who have seen God, and their witness is that we are created in HIS image. What part of those first scriptures in Genesis don't we understand? God is real! He is a person. He has a glorified body of flesh and bones, just like Christ now has a glorified body of flesh and bones.

Adam saw God, Moses saw God, Enoch saw God, the brother of Jared saw God, Nephi saw God as did Moroni. Stephen saw God. Joseph Smith saw God. Too bad nobody will listen or believe when we have actual eyewitness accounts!! Without real faith we end up worshipping metaphors and concepts!

The is no real evidence that a "glorified body ", or for that matter, any physical Christ ever existed.

The limits of your comprehension are by no means the limits of god.

The world truly is confused.

Except for you?

Without real faith we end up worshipping metaphors and concepts!

How is it you do not worship a metaphor or concept?

So where do you believe the belief came from?
That's an easy one.
