Has your sexuality changed?

I had forgotten that I was once gay and I was recently reminded that before going through puberty I would check out guys at the urinals and have sexual fantasies involving men. For some reason it just occurred to me that I used to be gay. It had been totally forgotten till yesterday.

After going through puberty I have not had any fantasies involving men and have no attraction to the male body or male genitilia whatsoever. So I wonder, what happened?

So, it just dawned on me that I am walking proof that a homosexual can become 100% heterosexual. Has anyone else had experiences like that?

(I contemplated a bit on whether this belongs in the Eros subforum, but I don't think it has quite crossed the DMZ into that territory. It sits on the borderline me thinks :p)

Hmm, I think one of two things is occurring. Either there are issues relating to sexual abuse, or you are confusing post adolescent sexuality with pre-adolescent sexuality. Pre-adolescent sexuality and curiosity, when sexual abuse is not present is different. I do not think you were homosexual and became heterosexual based on your description.

Sexuality is very often fluid. In fact iirc on the Kinsey scale most people fall in the center range, with not a whole lot of people being exclusively heterosexual or exclusively homosexual. I've never had sex with a woman but I occasionally wonder what it's like, and what it would be like to be in a husband, wife, children family. For me it's more a romantic sort of thing; it's only men that turn my crank.

You're certainly not alone, many individuals experience sexual fluidity.
I haven't myself, however I used to believe I was straight by default before discovering the label of asexuality (which fits me perfectly), and learning of romantic attraction which I do in fact experience towards men.

What? Me worry?

At least you weren't sexually attracted to the urinals; then you really would have a problem...just sayin'.

I see it as rising above the carnal through understanding (spirit).

We were created like the animals, carnal. Once man received the spirit (fruit tree?), he transgressed above them. The flesh is still carnal. The spirit is now what makes us alive over the (carnal) flesh. John 8

Desires (meaning of father) come by two different understandings, Father of spirit, father of flesh. Grace is the Fathers understanding and patience that we are still in desire of flesh (carnal). Flesh can include men, women, animals, children, and even physical things like shoes, underwear. The "desire" (sexual) comes in different flavors to a common purpose (relieving it's driving frustration).

Sex and love are separate, IMO.

I am not an expert on these matters by any means, but I am very skeptical that most people are bisexual. Probably more than we think, but still well under 50% of the population if I had to guess.

I just learned about it yesterday , and I have been a member of this forum for over 3 years. It isn't known to everyone and you have to be an adult to get a membership, but it does exist :)
I am an adult, but I can't find it. I did look. :)

Having sexual fantasies is not the same thing as having a sexual orientation. That sounds more like curiosity. Many heterosexuals can be at least bi curious in the sense that they may have or have had homoerotic fantasies or thoughts. I don't know if that makes them bisexual or gay to begin with though.
I mean there is a difference between curiosity, experimentation and your actual legitimate sexual orientation that you posses, just saying. I don't think you're proof of anything other than sexuality is at least somewhat fluid in human beings and that it's far more complicated than simply being gay or straight or whatever. Which was already known by the medical community for years now. But you can label yourself however you please.

^I think this is most likely the case. Not once gay, but rather displaying a pre-adolescent or pre-pubic sexuality.

...on the Kinsey scale...

I used to think the Kinsey scale had been established and confirmed by a weight of evidence. I was surprised to learn that it was and remains something of a relatively unsupported hypothesis.

I’m not really sure how it’s viewed anymore but I can certainly accept the idea of sexuality being more fluid than people tend to think.

I don’t think it’s anything like that either. I think it’s more complex.
