Have you ever walked out on a movie?

I remember once I went on Christmas Day with my entire family to see "The Mexican" with Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt. I hated it so much I threw my coke on the floor, walked out by myself and sat in the arcade until the movie was over.

I also walked out on "As Good as it Gets" with Jack Nicolson and Helen Hunt - which, as I recall, won movie of the year that year. I demanded - successfully - my money back on that one.

I would have walked out on Rush Hour 3 but I saw it in a tavern and had plenty of access to beer.

Personally I tend to just be really picky as to what I actually go to see as I perceive cinemas to be a rip off. I haven't been to the cinema since seeing Quantum of Solace in November. The next film I plan on seeing is Coraline (stop motion animation filmed in 3D) and I don't think that is coming out in the UK until May/June.

Even if I hated a film, if I have had to pay to be there you can be sure I am going to see it through.

:D I'll tell you about this one date I had with a girl I once knew. We went to see a movie (I can't remember what the name of it was) at the theater. Halfway through the movie I decided I needed to go use the washroom. On my way out, somehow I got disoriented and ended up going through the wrong set of doors. They were actually the exit doors to the building. I did not realize where I was until the doors slammed shut and I found myself outside the theater locked out. The main entrance was already closed for the night, so I ended up having to bang on the glass to get the attention of the janitor. :eek:Thank god I managed to get back in!:p There was at least another hour left before the movie was finished. Had a hard time explaining to my date where I had been for the last half hour.:foot::D

I walked out of "Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou." It was right after whats-his-face crushed the mouse in his fist. I don't find animal cruelty funny -- even of the pretend variety.

Oh no! One of my favorite movies.

It was a toad, and I bet that it was a stunt double.

Yes, it was a stunt double: a mouse in a toad costume.

Just kidding with you katz. I saw the movie and remember liking it but either I was sleepy or had a hard time hearing it, and I don't even remember the part about the toad/mouse.

Okay, a toad. Whatever. It was the idea that crushing it was supposed to be funny that I found offensive. Also, I just wasn't enjoying the movie that much.

I just remember another movie I walked out of. What was it called? Cloverfields or something like that. I left after about twenty minutes because it was making me sick to my stomach to watch it.

I never got the impression that the toad-crushing was supposed to be funny.

I REALLY should have walked out of Tropic Thunder... what a stupid movie. I just kept hoping it would get better, but all of the funny parts were in the commercials...

Me neither. It was almost tragic, really, because they thought it was their friend Pete.

I've never walked out of a movie, but I did fall asleep during Apollo 13.

You shouldn't have thrown your coke on the floor... Someone had to clean that up, and it's not the theater employees' fault that the movie sucked.

Anyway, no. I haven't ever walked out on a movie. I think the worse movie I saw in theaters was White Noise, but I didn't walk out, because it wasn't THAT bad, and I had nothing better to do. I don't usually go to movies unless the previews look pretty good, and I guess I'm a good judge for movies most of the time. :D

I love Cloverfield. It did make a lot of people sick though. There was a puddle of vomit in the bathroom afterward. I thought it was funny, but also sad, because someone had to clean it... X_X

hahahahahaha i admit i walked out of Return of the Jedi, because I walked into the movie late, just before the barroom brawl scene, and i had taken acid and was hallucinating like CRAZY. that scene was waaaaay too intense. I managed to get my money back before an hour long laugh attack struck!

Also walked out of a movie because all the previews were schmaltzy messes, and i find that's fairly indicative of the movie to come... i think it had Julianne Moore in it.

I never walked out of a movie. It is against Patrickism. When one watches a movie, one gambles not only their time but also their money and one takes their chances. When the movie completely comes to a full stop, then one is allowed to critique the film and pass their judgment. Dedicated movie watching is an art and sometimes one has to suffer for that art. In my opinion, anybody who walks out early on a movie has no right or insight to tell me if a movie is worthy or not to be watched.

I remember when you posted that comment about the Cloverfield movie. I would find your reason of walking out because of a queasy stomach rationale and understandable. The fact that I watched that piece of garbage to the very end makes your walking out seem even more justifiable.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
A couple of years ago my husband and I went to see "The Good Shepherd." We sat...and suffered...and sat...and suffered. About 3/4s of the way through it, something happened technically and the film stopped and lights came on. I looked at my husband and he looked at me, and we both just stood up simultaneously. My husband said in a loud voice, "Thank GOODNESS - honey, do you even care what happens in the rest of this movie?" and I said, "I couldn't care less - I don't even LIKE any of these characters!" and we just walked out.

About a year later we were at some sort of Chamber of Commerce event and were meeting some new people and the wife kept looking at us ****-eyed. Finally she said, "Hey...this may sound crazy, but did you two get up and walk out of a movie a few months ago?"

Oh - and a couple of weeks ago we went to see "Valkyrie." After the movie, I turned around to my husband and said, "I would have been able to get some good sleep in there, but your snoring kept waking me up.'

TERRIBLE MOVIE! You have to be a truly bad director if you can take THAT story, and THAT budget, and film it in the Alps, and it STILL come out BORING, BORING, BORING.

Tom Cruise is a terrible actor.

Hey, buddy - time is money and my time is too precious to waste.

If I start watching a movie and it's stupid, or just simply bad art, I'll cut my losses and go find something better to do.

Yea, I too walked out on a movie once, although it had nothing to do with the quality of the movie. Man, what a night that turned out to be,
