Have you ever walked out on a movie?

I thought Royal Tenenbaums was great... I think it's a very dark sort of humor, which fits me pretty well.

The only movie I just couldn't watch all the way through was Steve Martin's version of "The Pink Panther." We rented it, but couldn't make it through, although we did watch an hour of it before turning it off.

As far as going to the movies, I've never walked out of the theatre. I just gritted my teeth and got through it. I don't walk out of live performances in theatre, either. I do what I can to support the arts if I am part of a captive audience. I don't consider sitting through art that I don't like to be a waste of my time. I consider it a further exploration into my own personal aesthetics.

Of course, we could probably go into another debate on whether film art is alive and well in Hollywood, but my definition of what is "art" is very broad and inclusive. ;)

If I would have watched Punisher: Warzome in the theaters, I probably would have walked out. But then again, maybe not: I'm a sucker for punishment. <---------Awesome pun!! Yuk yuk!

Napoleon Dynamite. Walked out after 45 minutes. I only lasted as long as I did because of my optimism. "It's gonna get better. It's gonna get better. It has to get better." But, it didn't. :p

So be it. Some movies are beyond redemption (example: "Superbad.") I don't have to watch crap in order to appreciate true art.

Superbad was a great movie, worth watching alone for the ending credits montage - one of the funniest thing I have ever watched.

I walked out on the first Austin Powers movie.

Strangely, I saw it a cpl years later and I liked it. Don't know what changed except that by then I'd seen the sequel. Maybe that changed my perspective.

I was the same with the Austin Powers movies, though I think it was probably because I was pretty young when I first saw them so when I rediscovered them a little while back I probably picked up on a lot more.

I think it may be an acquired taste. Like Sterno.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

Proof that art is subjective - I watched the entire thing myself and found it sophmoric at best, and just downright blatantly tasteless and just SUPER BAD at worst.

I sat through "Marley and Me", which was an extremely horrible and tortuous experience. I wanted to walk out so bad but I was with friends and didn't want to be rude. However, when it was finally over they stated that they too wanted to walk out.

I REALLY should have walked out of Tropic Thunder... what a stupid movie. I just kept hoping it would get better, but all of the funny parts were in the commercials...

I think this is the first thread where I've agreed with tomspug 100%!!! :D

I don't think I've ever walked out of a film. I know I've been more interested in playing games on my phone or texting than watching, say, Shrek 3. My friends and I have done the MST3K treatment on films that are really bad, but we do wait 'til its been in the theaters for a week or two and go to a late showing so noone is there to be bothered by us being obnoxious. Going all Tom Servo on all three Star Wars prequels made them bearable.... barely. Oh, and M. Night films are actually entertaining when ruthlessly mocked!
