Have you met God?

All the time. But I'm most aware of it when I'm in nature. It's effect on my life is to make me savour it. That feeling gets me onto the mountains, into the water, onto a motorbike. Or into a book.

A face to face hand-shaking meeting? no. An actual conversation (not just prayer, but two way conversation) and physical experience? yes

I've had an incredibly intense theophany, but I wouldn't describe it as "meeting" God. More like seeing, in a metaphoric sense.

Awesome! How did it affect your life?

I had an experience with God myself, and I was thinking, surely other people have had personal/direct manifestations of Deity they'd like to share. This may be an opportunity to find out what has been experienced!

Heh heh, all well and good. Feel free to say whatever, but I am still holding out some hope that the people with genuine mystical experiences won't shy away from sharing.

I agree with Sam Harris that mystical experiences are a lot more common than we might think. I first became interested in them about 35 years ago, and since then I've noticed that many more people seem to have had them than I at first supposed. It now seems to me that Harris is not too far off when he says "millions" of people around the world have had mystical experiences. People can be very reluctant to talk about them, though. I think part of the reason for that reluctance is that mystical experiences are often so very difficult to describe.

I've met God, who watches whenever I meditate. There's the all-seeing "eye" that pops up vividly now whenever my Third Eye opens......and sometimes it's an excruciating pain/pressure in my forehead.

Peace,
Mystic

Depends Upon My Mood..
I have too..but I wasnt meditating..Its hard to relay as someone pointed out without you feeling what I felt..But I'll try.

I was being terrorized internally..before I saw God I saw evil. And there were eyes involved in that..Terrible eyes that leared at me..Trying to swallow me.They were yellow.

Then God was there ..I went into His hand. Then I was under a beautiful cloak of protection..I huddled at His feet under the cloak..I was sheilded..He spoke to the evil thing..It shrunk and vanished into a tiny black dot. This is what that monster really was.. ( . )

How did it affect me??...Well just recalling it my body is trembling from my top of my head to my feet..Im having trouble typing ...

Maybe its for a differnt thread..but has anyone ever seen or met evil? or what I would call the devil?

Friend Troublemane,
Have you met god?
Well, why talk in the past, am meeting god all the time even now.
whatever we see or do not see are but forms of the same energy *GOD*; which we are all are and surrounded by it.
Do we realise it? that could be a question mark there.

I agree with this 100%...are we mostly blind?..do we reject what is right in front of us at times?

I have had mystical experiences, but I wouldn't describe them in theistic terms. I'm not sure I'd try to describe them at all.

Yeah, it can be difficult to put into words sometimes, because there are so many varieties. Perhaps it does largely depend on your frame of reference? My own earliest encounter with the divine was when I was in college 20 yrs ago and retreated out into the woods, and as I was eating a sandwich I noticed the wind in the trees made the trees sway, and their creaking sounded amazingly like a cello concerto. That was when I began an awareness of what I would call a divine being present in nature.

Have I met God?

As time moves on,
I shy more and more away from the word "God".
Not because I dislike the word personally,
but because my own personal experience of "God"
is so NOT the mainstream understanding of God
of the society/religion that surrounds me,
that the word itself becomes a hinderance to my communication,
rather than a help.

I will say this.
The UniVerse, the Reality in which I live
is not this common lifeless "backdrop"
that the world would have you believe it is.

The UniVerse is ONE Responsive "entity"
that "be-comes" as it's multi consciousnesses
(ie all that is conscious within itself)
sees, imagines, in-visions, and believes.

The world institutions would have you believe
you are adrift in a sea of circumstance, happenstance
out beyond and apart from you.

But the truth is,
your entire Reality is wholly responsive to your
Thought and Belief patterns.
The UniVerse is interactive.
The UniVerse speaks in/of universal symbolisms.
Your Personal Reality speaks in/of your Personal symbolisms.

Tap into the Love, Majik, Meaning of your own personal reality
as it resides in the wholeness of the OneVerse
the OneBe-ing... the Overriding Construct
and you have tapped into the divine Oneder/Wonder
the Living Mystery.
