Any thoughts about the two roads and where they lead as found at Matthew 7:13_______quote

Going back to the question the 'young man' asked, 'what else do I have to do?', What does it mean for us today! to belong to the 'few'? Do we offer up all our possessions, join a monastery, a convent, or live in a commune of like purpose? Do we give from what we have or do we offer up only what is left over, having our share first? What does it take for us in the 21st cent to be counted as one of the 'few'?

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness.

Scriptures are the word of God in human language.

A Pre millenial view says there is some golden age of Jesus reigning more literally on earth before a final rebellion and final judgement
An A millennium view says Jesus is reigning now spiritually
A post millennial view is things get better in the long run ushering in the kingdom
I respectfully lean pre millennial.
I do think people in good conscience might see these things a bit differently.

Before Jesus begins his millennium-long day of governing over Earth, (pre-millennia)I find Jesus is Now head of the Christian congregation as per Ephesians 5:23-26. In that sense, yes, then reigning spiritually.
Post-millennial to me would be the final judgement on Earth at the 'end' of Jesus 1,000-year reign over Earth.
'Thy kingdom come' comes with the start or beginning of Jesus' 1,000-year reign over Earth which happens after the great tribulation of Revelation 7:14,9 and the final war of Armageddon (Psalms 46:9) because God's kingdom government of Daniel 2:44 takes place right before the millennial reign begins.
Right now we are nearing the soon coming 'time of separation' to take place on Earth as per Matthew 25:31-33,37,40
This ' separating time ' is connected to the final judgement at the end of this world of badness, these last days of badness on Earth before Jesus begins his 1,000-year governmental rule over Earth for a thousand years.
I think some people refer to the 1,000 years time frame as being a ' golden age '.

That young man was a 'rich young man' attached to his possessions.
Remember Jesus could read hearts which we can't.
Paul on the other hand, took up tent making to support himself in the ministry
- Acts of the Apostles 18:3 B; 1 Thessalonians 2:9
The ' rich young man ' chose wealth over Jesus.
Kind of like today when a person puts material possessions as priority in life.
This does Not mean possessions are wrong, but un-do attachment to them would be wrong.
What a person gives they should give privately - Matthew 6:1-4; Proverbs 27:2
The 'few' would be the opposite of Matthew 7:22-23

Why, then, your DNA matches so closely with that of a chimp (or langur)?
When is that (the great tribulation) to come? Jesus told his disciple that it will come in their life-time. Scarecrow and a dangling carrot.
Nothing special, all religions, all societies, do it. It is the standard line. Jesus was not the first to say so.
To me a close match does Not have to mean an exact match.
Yes, there was a ' tribulation ' that came in the year 70 when the Roman armies destroyed un-faithful Jerusalem.
So, yes the 'smaller' or 'minor' fulfillment did come in the first century which was great tribulation for Jerusalem.
I find at Matthew 24:21 the 'tribulation of the year 70' was Not such as was Not since the beginning of the world....
Revelation was written at the end of the first century and the setting or time frame is for our day or time frame.
So, the ' great tribulation ' at Revelation 7:14,9 did Not take place in the first century but warning for our day.
ALL religions do Not teach that God's kingdom government of Daniel 2:44 will govern over Earth.
ALL religions do Not proclaim world wide God's kingdom government will replace all other kingdoms or governments.
ALL religions do Not talk of a coming earthly resurrection back to live life on Earth, and that there will be ' healing ' for earth's nations as mentioned at Revelation 22:2.
ALL religions do Not inform people about the coming time of 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 when the 'powers that be' will be saying, " Peace and Security..." . In other words, things will look or appear rosy before the political surprisingly turns on the religious world.

Whether 'few', 'many' or 'all' is a matter of interpretive translation. About twenty years ago Benedict XVI ordered that the 'all' in the English translation of the Eucharist Liturgy to 'the many' because he considered it to be closer to the Latin translation of Scripture.

Interesting point of view, but nevertheless I find at Psalms 92:7 the wicked will be 'destroyed forever'.
Sinner Satan also will Not repent and Satan is wicked. Satan ends up with those of Revelation 21:8.
So, to me it is No wonder that Jesus will destroy Satan as per Hebrews 2:14 B.
No wicked person either angelic or human can gain everlasting life.

There is no fire in Hell, the fire is going to be on earth. The Messiah will literally set the world on fire. Hell is not physical torture, it is mental terror. It is a Black Hole. It is darkness, freezing cold, hyper gravity and a bottomless pit. It is also temporary, only Satan will rot forever in Hell. Entrance to Heaven is priceless, it's also a free gift.

I believe scripture describes it as a lake of fire.

I believe there is no evidence of direct intervention on a grand scale but He certainly will crispy critter the armies at Armageddon.

I believe that is close to the truth in that it is intellectual torment but the mind is part of the physical body so it can't be mental.

I believe there are those who temporarily suffer that fate although there is no mention of a black hole.

I believe I don't have a clue where that comes from. Certainly not the Bible.

I think the probability is high for it to be temporary but that doesn't mean it is a short time.

Yeah, your stories do not bother me in the least, only greatly amuse me to think how far the superstitious go in believing imagined things.

I believe in The Living God. There is nothing superstitious about that. Believing that it is just a story may very well help you get there.

A Christian is motivated by the love of and from Jesus Christ. This is separable from warning people about eternal Hell.

I believe any loving person would warn someone of a terrible danger they face if they continue in their ways. The problem is you can warn a heroin addict that it leads to death but he needs more than a warning. He needs someone to save him from himself.

That is very nice. Other people may also be motivated in the same way, but not necessarily from Jesus. A combination of love and hell is dastardly.

"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you! And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be thrown down to Hades! For if the miracles done among you had been done in Sodom, it would have continued to this day. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you!"

A combination of love and Hell motivated me to pursue truth. Reality needs to be dealt with, maturely.

Reality? What reality? Either it is one or the other, it cannot be both.

I believe you can't have it both ways. You can't be free of evil and have evil people present. That means the evil people have to be put in a place from which they can't escape to be with us. At least God gives everyone a choice as to which they want.

Ah! First create the problem and then offer the solution. That is what a dishonest doctor would do to sponge money from you. Why did God let evil be there.
