Did god, or gods, create hell, or did mankind?

evidently in the abrahamic religions god only created heaven and earth.

no where does it state it created hell, so then did mankind through avarice and turning away from compassion to selfishness begin and creating the idea of separateness lose connection with the divine and in so doing, created hell?

in other words, is hell a state of mind created by free will to selfishness and the allusion to difference/separateness between other self and self? basically in opposition to the name of names?

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.”…

I think the idea of hell is just a scam invented by priests to gain power.

Some priests agree that it is an invention
and some Christians also, notably JWs.

I personally think it's more of a misunderstanding. The moral of the story type of thing, but someone had gone and made it physical.

so some people hold to belief and those people who seek to understand reality, those who continually hold to belief without question, don't enter into reality. thus their reality is in turmoil? they are basically in opposition to knowing reality, or being present in reality vs believing in some reality, and never realizing it?
