Hello From A New Member

Grocery Bag

Hi everyone. My name is Deborah. I'm 38 years old and live in Southern Oregon.

I was raised with very little religion or spirituality. The Christmas and Easter church services at the Lutheran church most years and all the rites of passage in the Catholic church, but not any serious religion or spirituality.

I knew there was more to it than that and through the years, I have learned a little about a lot of religions, learned a lot about a few, and have come to believe that most religions have some truth to them but I don't think any religion has all the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

I am looking forward to being part of this forum and learning more about different religions and people's beliefs.

Sincerely,
Deborah

Hello and welcome, Deborah! Great to have you with us! (Sounds like we share at least a few beliefs!)

If you'd like, we have an article with links that can be of use to our newer members. If you ever have a question, please feel free to ask in a thread, or PM (private message) me, and I'd be happy to help.

Namaste!

Aqualung asks <<Sorry, but I have to ask. What's with the name?! >>

No apologies needed! When my daughter was younger, she had a sudden realization one day that parents could name their children anything at all; there was no requirement that they stick to regular names. She found this to be absolutely amazing and walked around the house pointing to various objects and asking if parents could name their children after that object.

That was more than a few years ago and I can't remember any of the specifics other than Grocery Bag. My husband and I thought that one was so funny and it became sort of an ongoing family joke.

When I was trying to think of a name for this forum, I ran through a couple options and then thought "My name could be anything, even Grocery Bag" so I had to go with that!

oh. :biglaugh: that's funny. By the way, to quote people, go like this {quote=Aqualung}blahblahblah[/quote], except replace the { with a [ in all cases. So it will look like

I have to ask the question after I welcome you to RF, Deborah. We hope you like your stay here.

Now the question - Is it plastic or paper? - the chosen member name

Awwe, the story about the names is so cute! :D Kids can say some amusing things at times.

Awwe-ing aside, welcome to the forums! :)

Thanks for the quote tip, Aqualung. We'll see how it works out here...

Paper. Definitely paper. I can still picture the bag my daughter was referring to and it had never even occurred to me to think of a plastic bag in the context of a name. Weird, the ideas our minds can get locked into!

Very close, Deborah! It can be difficult to learn, sometimes, I know. You're doing a great job, though!

Try something more like this (if you're quoting Pah, for example)...

(What Pah said here) [/QUOTE} (replacing the "}" with an ")" ).

A simplier way is to press the "quote" link on the person's post, which automatically quotes the other person for you.

Hey Grocery Bag! Hope you have a great time at RF, as I know I have. Now, another bag-related question:
Was the bag full or empty?
Sorry, feeling hungry. :p
