I was a full bore atheist at one point and I have a number of friends who were also atheists when younger. People's views change in both directions.

I believe that our "creator" to borrow a loaded term is nature, and that all our faults are natural.
So I personally have sought to rectify my faults inherited from nature rather than blame myself for things which I had no ultimate control over.
