Hello, Satanists!

IsaiahX

Ape That Loves
I was wondering about you all recently. I realized that I hardly ever gave your beliefs all that much thought. But, I have been curious, and thought I would ask some of you to describe your religion. I think that asking actual Satanists about their religion will be far more interesting than reading about it on Wikipedia or whatnot.

I always expected you all to be a strange bunch, though not in a bad way. The idea of following a being that is typically considered evil is peculiar, I must say. But, many religions are quite peculiar, including my own. Anyway, I would love to hear from some of you!

@IsaiahX Yo, I'm a Theistic Luciferian. I don't see Lucifer as an evil entity, but instead a wise teacher. If you want to PM me to ask me questions go ahead. I'm relatively new to this path but it has already had a significant effect on my life and I'm very excited to continue.

My path for me (this is different for different people, as LHP religious beliefs can be very personal to the practitioner and thus points of view vary a lot) is about finding inspiration in the symbol of the adversary to empower and improve myself. My worship of him isn't about finding salvation or assurance of a good afterlife, it's because I admire and seek to emulate aspects of Lucifer within my own life to improve myself out of personal choice. This would not include worship if such behavior was degrading to me.

While he for me is a deity, I seek to learn from him to become a more self-reliant being. The end goal is self-deification. I am the one responsible for creating the reality I want to live in, basically creating my own personal utopia in life. I can ask for advice and assistance, but in the end, the responsibility rests on me to do the work to achieve my goals. I love that.

If another path suits another person's goals better than this one, I say have at it. If it works for them then it works for them, this isn't about gaining followers and certainly won't be a good fit for everyone. I don't care if people disagree with me so long as they don't try to infringe on my ability to do my thing.

So, In what way is that different from the Satanic Church. Please school me.

Interesting.

I don't think there are any LeVey Satanists (Church of Satan) here in this forum. That's the original. The more recent spinoff's are more watered down.

I think the Church of Satan is based on the Atheistic Satanism based from the works of Anton Le Vey (i.e. the Satanic bible). They don't believe in a literal "devil" (or even a literal god either) but rather use Satan as a cultural symbol for values of individualism and enlightenment. Luciferianism (or Theistic Satanism that does believe in a literal satan or devil) is a different thing entirely (or so I am led to believe).

Unlike newer, liter forms of Satanism, the original LeVey brand was overtly devoted to selfishness and narcissism.

Not a Satanist but you mention "evil" check out how many deaths the bible indicates god is responsible for and how many are down to satan.
Old Testament Murder Count: God Vs. Satan

And much as i am loath to use the Express
SHOCK CLAIM: Christians were WRONG to brand Satan evil as scientist insists devil is good

Notice that I said "typically considered evil" and not simply evil. I agree that the God of the Bible (at least the God of the Old Testament) is extremely malicious. However, the difference is that he is considered to be good by many people. Satan, however, does not usually get that type of appreciation. So, I find it interesting that some folks have an unpopular opinion about him/her/it.

Thank you for your input, @Sinncubus-74! Based on how positive you and your beliefs sound, it seems most people give you all a very bad rap. I can't say that I agree with your doctrines, but they are certainlty quite interesting. If I have any questions, you will be the first that I ask!

That's a pity, they could certainly add a valuable perspective to this conversation. I find a lot of people unfamiliar with this territory don't know Satanism (as well as Luciferianism) can be atheistic.

Glad I could contribute to this conversation. :p The lack of fear of associating with an entity or entities normally seen as evil is definitely a big thing that puts people off.
