Hezbollah flags at protests pose test of new hate-symbol laws

'Federal police are investigating a Melbourne protest where Hezbollah flags were displayed in what shapes as an early test of hate symbol laws passed earlier this year.

Immigration Minister Tony Burke says he will cancel the visas of any non-citizens identified as "inciting discord", but says it is not clear whether any non-citizens had been involved.

What's next?

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton wants parliament to be recalled to consider new laws, which Mr Burke says is a political distraction.'

Personally I believe it makes sense to let the courts test the laws, constantly re-writing laws without ever letting them enter the courts would be government micro management and waste which Dutton appears to support in my view.

Hezbollah is considered a terrorist organisation here in Aus. The law is possibly badly named or referred to as anti hate laws. I don't know the actual official name of the law. I believe it was originally started to stop people using the Nazi symbol.
I see.

Hezbollah is a "hate group" now? Lol
Not sure I want to poke this, but, "Hate speech laws which took effect earlier this year prevent the display of prohibited Nazi and terrorist symbols."

So according to my understanding because it is considered a terrorist organisation by our government it may be prohibited to display its flag depending on context (the nuances of which I'm unclear about).
