Hi! Newbie here looking for some advice

Hi! I’m not a particularly religious person but I am having somewhat of a spiritual crisis going on. I have been treated on and off over the years for a ‘mental’ condition. I discovered Zen Buddhism a few years back and through meditation, I began to feel more grounded. But I recently requested my med notes and I’m struggling with some doubts as to whether I have been struggling with some mental illness or a spiritual awakening.

We are all somewhere in the process and at different levels of understanding. I myself must have trust in the process and learn to transcend the fear. I must push forward for it is the only true choice I have at this time. Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to sharing my thoughts and getting your input.

Spirituality is a "out of your mind" type of thing.
I think you will be OK if you try to bring spirituality into your everyday life and not treat it as a separate issue.
Blessings.

Thank you for that. I'm coming from a metaphysical rather than a religious perspective. For me spirituality is not a separate thing. We are all spiritual beings and spirituality is within us all, some of us are aware of it and some of us are not, and some of us call it something else. It is what we are, it isn't something we become. And yes, there are times when it can feel like an 'out of the mind' experience. And this is the part I'm exploring.
