Aup can ship you one, right Aup?
I can :D, my nephew's wife will be leaving for US soon (provided I can find it in Delhi. I think the Delhi trader cap is not much different). See, do you mean what you see in the images?

Shivram Rajguru, one of the two freedom fighters who was hanged along with Bhagat Singh for a bomb explosion in Indian Parliament during British days, and Lala Hariram Manaktala.

For me there is nothing more beautiful and feminine than a saree

I agree, there is nothing more beautiful and feminine than a saree, even for a fat lady; but this is not a saree. This is a South Indian Langa and Voni worn by unmarried girls. The jasmine strings hangs from the hair and is not tied around the bun. See, no red bindi, which is a mark of a married woman. Normally it is a black bindi from the puja lamp/from agarbattis/Sandal (I do not definitely know, Vinayaka may tell you more). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Langa_Voni, http://looksnatural.blogspot.in/2011/03/half-saree-models.html

Saree looks good even on older ladies. India Gandhi and current Indian Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj (she is a roly-poly fatto, a typical Hindu matron).

When I said that is "TOTALLY ME!", I didn't mean it was actually me, this saying "totally me" is an American saying which means "This is my style! This suits me well!"..

Actually I do love shawls and scraves for men, I have some really nice ones that I wear. I also like the more simple ones, and I like kurtas too which I do wear to events or temples, but sometimes I go right from work so I am in dockers and dress shirt, button down shirt, but the button down shirts I wear are typical ones you find business men in India wear. Yes, if you ever see me, it is not unusual I will be in total black cloth, sometimes mostly white. If i wear button down shirts, they are always solid color and not like Vinayaka wears with multiple patterns and colors or checks - not the Bangladeshi style.

Actually I hate the shirts Vinayaka wears, but I love Vinayaka.

No my "blood" is not Indian, but who knows. But I have a huge family relations in India from my wife's side, and I have family in Canada, Australia, UK including Indians. My father is English and my mother is Swedish in ethnicity. I am, however, more Indian than some Indians. :) My Father is an impersonalist and sort of like Aup, and my Mother is basically Buddhist but Indian style and not Mahayana. I am a Hindu since 8 years old, no problem with my parents who like it. My sister is a KrishnaFan, my brother is a atheist but likes everything. I am a Saiva but I like all the Devatas. So much about me.

Please don't wear shirts like that. I love you and I know that pic isn't you, but that is horrible. It looks like a Bangladeshi just run into Kolkata. Wear solids please, No CHECK!

You are right FS, that is formal wear. Actually this is very like how the ladies dressed when I attended the wedding for my niece.

So to tell the truth, I posted the pic you see because (1) yes the attire is stunningly beautiful, and (2) ah... that gal is too!

I couldn't find a better picture, and I wanted short-sleeve. My Tamil friends are about 60-40 short sleeve to long sleeve, only occasionally kurta, but you're right, most don't wear checkered. Of my 10 or so shirts, I only have one checkered one. I'll save it for next time I'm in Concord. :) When some guy comes running up to me complaining about my shirt, I'll know it's you.

We had Bangladeshi neighbours for awhile, and their casual dress was quite like Tamil Nadu, actually.

You know, you mention Concord and I have to tell you a dream I had several months ago. I identify it with you, LOL.

I was dreaming that I was at the temple in Concord. I came in and sat on the far left side in the back. I was in a black jacket over a typical green shirt (I love green) and black pants.

About five minutes later a gentleman walks in with a kurta, he had blond-white hair slightly on the long side at the back but not as long as a hippie.

He was with a nice lady dressed in proper Hindu attire, and a girl who wore a more darker Hindu attire, sort of blue color in my dream.

He smiled nicely, looking forward, and sort of was like a "white guy guru". He didn't notice me.

All three sat down in front Skanda but just slightly to Muruga's own proper left.

Normally I might sit on the far right side (if no one is around). But not so in thus dream.

The pujas started.

All of a sudden the female started singing in some language, it was Tamil in my dream.

The priest then came to me and I gave him an envelope with a lot of bills in it. I opened the envelope to show the money and he was happy.

Since the female had stopped singing, I looked over to where the 3 were. But the last of the 3 passed through the door at the front of the altar that exits on the right side out of the temple room.

Then I leave out the normal front door. And I wake up.

For some reason, it seems like the "white guy" was you.
