Hindu book discussion thread and ideas

I am thinking of starting a thread where a chosen Hindu text (classical or new) will be collaboratively and systematically read and commented on by participants. The book will be chosen by vote, should be freely available online or download able and quotable, and would be discussed on segments in separate threads, so that late comers or temporary absentees (life happens) can jump back to a segment when they have free time again.

If you guys, gals, robots, aliens and talking animals/birds are interested in such a discussion, please leave an OP like.

Also please present suggestions and links for those book suggestions as replies here. The 4-5 most popular ones will be put up to a poll for final selection. :)

Getting lots of likes. But a few more book suggestions also welcome. :)

How about an episode by episode discussion of the Mahabharata. Free apps are available that stream BR Chopra's TV series.

It's a TV series, not a religious scripture. Basic outline maybe followed, but very little of the actual written verses of the major renditions are present.

Understood but the story is so awesome! I would love to participate in a beginner's level workshop on this story and its cultural and spiritual significance. It may not be reading but it is a book to discuss!

We can directly read some abridged version.
