"Hinduism causes evil".

Playing the devil's advocate here, here's an article I found about abuse to Dalit women married to higher caste men in Tamil Nadu. I have no idea how commonplace since I haven't been to India for a long time.

80% dalit women face violence in inter-caste marriage | Deccan Chronicle

Even if you did go, you wouldn't be able to figure it out. TN is 60 million people. Much goes unreported, I'm sure. I'm not sure if we can say for sure that caste is the cause of this either. There is still male chauvinism and violence against women (and children, and men) everywhere on the planet. Here's a not so pretty stat sheet from Canada The Facts About Violence Against Women | Canadianwomen.org

supposedly, one of the more 'civilised' places on the planet.

So is the TN article and problem linked to caste? Certainly the author thinks so. I'm really not sure. Not saying it isn't, but not saying it is either.

87 out of 60 million is a very small sample.

60 million was a guess so I looked it up ... 72 million ... even smaller sample. But the article is a bit ironic given it states that intercaste marriage is there. At one time, according to what you m,ight read, intercaste marriage would have been a no-no.
