What kind of horses? My avatar picture is a picture of my Icelandic horse, Eyrarros fra Gufudal-Fremri.

I'm a "gamer" as well, but none of these new-fangled electronic games, I'm addicted to the ancient Asian game of Go.

@ADigitalArtist - I don't know if I can just grant you "biggest nerd" status. I author and edit books on computer programming and list applied cognitive science as one of my hobbies... ball's in your court. ;)
Computer science people are 'geeks' in the (totally not arbitrary, okay maybe sometimes arbitrary) common vernacular. Nerds are culture and media geeks. Less programmers, more dudes in Star Trek costumes. Not that there can't be overlap, there absolutely can.
If it helps I have an associates degree in website development, though I ended up not choosing it as my profession. But I can build scripts for 3D Maya, Max, Zbrush and Photoshop all day!

Incidentally, my mom is a big horse gal. She breeds Arabian and Quarterhorse Arabian crosses for Western gaming and 4H. :) We've also stabled a wide variety of horses for training. Never any Icelandic horses, but we did train a really funny Norwegian Fjord.

Are there any stories from Greek, irish or north myths you'd like to share? I'd love to hear one that you really enjoy.
Well actually I'm currently awaiting my collections in the mail. Book Depository takes forever, but with free shipping worldwide, I can force myself to be patient! I'm merely starting out my journey, as it were. I go through phases in my reading. A few months ago I was on a big world Fairy Tales kick.
Although I am rather partial to the Odyssey. Provided you get a good translation. I started with the Butler translation and was disappointed, found it wonky and without much action. But the Fagles version practically sings! Going to try the Fitzgerald one when it eventually gets to my address.
And I like the one where Hades kidnaps Persephone. (Known as the "Rape of Persephone.") Not as awful as it sounds, but a nice little tale about how Winter started. The various stories about players in the Illiad are always fun, though there's like a hundred of them lol.
And Oedipus Rex is fascinating, if kind of ****ed up. But that could be said about any Ancient Greek story really. (And yes I'm aware it's a play not a myth but I'm counting them as well.)

We have an Arabian mix and a pair of minis. If you'd like I can take pictures some time.

You and I have a lot in common. :) Love your games list.
Also still have a special place for a bunch of YA fantasy and sci-fi. Animorphs, Pern, Dealing with Dragons.
OMG Animorphs was my childhood! Sadly lost my collection when we moved as a kid. :( But my cousins and I watched the show religiously when we were like 10 lol.
And dragons are so awesome!
I loved Lord of the Rings and I still have some Discworld (and various Pratchett retellings) on my shelves! And I'm part of the "Harry Potter generation."

Oh, yes.....but you too can live the dream!

I have a John Deere Model 40 row crop (1954). Not at the top of the pecking order for darn sure when it comes to desirable tractors for collection, but my uncle farmed with one when I was a child so there is sentimental value involved.
I retire this year, and within a year or so, I will begin the restoration process, perhaps thereby precipitating a divorce in the process. If that does not destroy my marriage, then when I finish spending money to restore it and gift it to a museum so others can enjoy it, that should just about do it . LOL

Do you have specific interests with regard to old equipment? I love old stationary engines, but have not waded into that yet.

I have some big projects in the works......
- Reassembling a machine shop from about 1870. I have the steam engine they built to run it, & I'm acquiring all the machine tools from it. Fortunately, 2 collectors got all of them, & even took pix before removing them. The recreated shop will be at a museum in PA.
- Installing a 1903 Diesel in a new building, also in PA.

Do you know why John Deeres are green?

Other things I like....
- Early testing equipment
- Hot air engines
- Early steam engines
- Vintage forklifts
- Local brand antique bottles
- My 1908 Duplex pickkup truck
- Classic motorcycles
- Patent models
- Vintage commercial art related to machinery
- Antique safes
- Bacon

Holy frijoli.......I'm just a babe in the woods.......

When that machine shop becomes a reality, I want to know. I live in Texas (If you look at a map of Texas, I am that tiny blue dot in the sea of red). But I will make a pilgrimage to PA without hesitation.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
You know in my short time here on RF I've already met some rather wonderful people. Many of whom I like to imagine in funny religious hats. Sometimes religious hats made of cobra ( I can not help but mention @Kirran here) sometimes people made of cobras ( and I mention @1137 because I just got through Sens fortress and with all the references to snakes it has me thinking about him or her as a snakeperson) and even greasy Scottish people @A Greased Scotsman and people I keep imagining as magical rainbow doves @Rival.

With all this in mind I decided I would ask some of these folks I have met and people in general what sort of things keep their interest? You know hobbies and such outside of religious studies. I'd like to build a full picture here for when I inevitably write a comic with all of you in mind and make a lot of money selling it out of the back of my creepy van.

I'll share a bit about myself.

I like to write in my spare time as well as paint and draw. I haven't really posted any art or literature yet but should get around to that eventually. When it comes to subject matter for my writing and illustration I usually like to do religious commentary, morality, science fiction ect.

My favorite books are Starship troopers, Aurelian, The first heretic, the myth of Andalusian paradise, the righteous mind, and a thousand sons.

I do enjoy gaming whether it be something like Pc gaming, tabletop gaming or otherwise. My favorite games are the souls series, Warhammer eternal crusade, dawn of war, xcom , Warhammer 40k , Corvus Belli's infinity and kill team.

I also enjoy weight training and I've been trying to get into running. Honestly though I hate running, I will take walks though and ride my horses from time to time.

I have a particular interest in history and psychology. Pharmacy is my field of study. I greatly enjoy ancient history with a focus on the greeks and the Persian as well as later history like the crusades, colonial Europe ect.

So that Is a little bit about me, so if you wouldn't mind sharing a bit about yourselves i'd love to hear it.
I enjoy storytelling and stop motion animation as well as many forms of fine art.

Also a major gamer but it's gotten so expensive now. My faves are primarily slower paced adventure, simulation, and strategic/tactical type games that involve thinking more than indulging in a fast random bunny and wall hopping experience as my mood dictates.

I'll make an announcement here when either project is done.
(Being a collector interferes with being a doer. So I'm now
unloading some other interests in order to make these happen.)
