The Word Became Flesh
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life,
a and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 1
This can be considered in a different frame of reference.
When one considers God does not decend into creation, we can consider that this Passage is describing the Station of the Messenger as the 'Self of God" amongst us.
It was all the Messengers (the Word made flesh) that are mentioned in that passage, all of them were "in the beginning with God", as they are all made of the Word of God, all of them ONE of God.
Thus the new name is an important understanding of the Word made Flesh. As in each age that Word comes with a different Name God. Many Bible passages talk about the Names of God and that in the last Day, all those Names will become One.
But the Bible warns only those that receive that Name, will know it is of God.
Revelation 2:17
"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.’"
Revelation 3:12
"He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name"

5 Bible verses about A New Name
Christ is the key, just as Peter offered and what Jesus said he will build the church upon. Christ means 'Annointed One', to us that meant Jesus was the Flesh representative of the 'Word made Flesh', yet the flesh amounts to nothing, it is the Spirit from God that is the Light and Life and gives life to flesh, as we must be born again.
