Homosexuality

Ardhanariswar

I'm back!
Just talking with respect to Hinduism in general, it is believed that the cause of homosexuality is due to the KARMA and REBIRTH. It explains it nicely that in your previous birth if you would have a female and now a male or vice versa, may be the feelings persisting from a previous life...explains why people feel they've got the wrong gender. Some men feel like they "should be" women, some women like they should be men.

There's a difference between sexuality and gender. Homosexuality means that you're fine with your sex and gender, and prefer same-sex partners. Transgender means that your internal gender doesn't match your physical sex.
Transgendered people can range from homosexual, bisexual, or heterosexual. These are two separate and unrelated things.

There are many examples of transgenderism in Hindu mythology as you've listed before. But I've yet to find one that deals with homosexuality.

Thank you all for clarifying things. I do believe that Hinduism and Buddhism have a similar opinion on sexuality in general. Literally if you are obsessed with it, allow it to become an addictive presence in life then it is harmful or "un-skillful" to one's spiritual well-being.

If that makes sense?

The more I learn about Hinduism, the more I respect it. :) Peace!

Yes and yes.

I use the term un-skillful due to my experience of Buddhism, since it tends to fit better with the Hindu/Buddhist perspective rather then using the word "sin" which really only works with the Abrahamic Faiths (plus affiliated denominations/sects).

Un-skilful actions create negative reactions (karmic responses), whereas skilful actions create positive reactions (karmic responses). At least this is how I've come to define such things.

Another phrase to use is "distraction from your journey". I don't like the word sin either.

Things can get so complicated in terms of homosexuality in general, especially with all religions who have traditionally held conservative, pro-procreative values.

Honestly, it's really become a headache with me.

All's I know, is that Krishna is a God of complete and utter love, and no matter how bad a person is, no matter what sinful actions their perform; if they surrender everything to Krishna, chant His names, pray to Him, and love Him above all, Krishna will eventually save Him.
