Honesty Feels Good

Under the heading, "Things which are sort of obvious".....
The secret to honesty revealed: it feels better
It is a mystery that has perplexed psychologists and philosophers since the dawn of humanity: why are most people honest?

Now, using a complex array of MRI machines and electrocution devices, scientists claim to have found the answer.

Researchers at University College London discovered that at a physical level the brain finds decency far more satisfying than deception.
Still, the research illuminates mechanisms of honesty.
I wonder how this meshes with sociopaths, who feel differently?

Another aspect to honesty is that with experience at dishonesty,
we discover that honesty is easier because there's no need to
construct ancillary fabrications. Honesty is more stress free.

In all honesty, I have lied a lot in my life and have made a lot of clever deceptions before. Especially to myself.

But honesty feels much better than all of it.

Honesty Feels Good,

except perhaps for those small fibs, like
that new hairstyle suits you or nice dress
etc. to make someone feel better.

If your wife asks whether a dress makes her look fat, and it does, I would recommend not to be brutally honest.
This is true. If you feel in such a way as to describe honesty in the situation as being "brutal" it's probably best to remain quiet. Sometimes it's tough to figure out how to be honest without being brutal in the delivery of it.

One need not say, "but you are fat" to be truthful. One can say "that dress is not the most flattering style/one I've seen on you." If she's asking about the dress, it is honest to respond about the dress. Some actually do look better than others.

From my experience: If you want honesty about whether or not a dress looks good on you, ask your daughter.

Honesty may be a good thing, but best not to go running amok with it.

Are you suggesting that society is losing ground in this area ???
