I know. I'm in shock as anyone now.

Even more so that Trump and Pelosi are on the same side on this issue.

You act shocked but you've been told multiple times that Republicans are no less prone to ride ons, nor are ride ons necessarily a bad thing because it's about time utilization and compromise and has literally been a part of the US since its formation.
Government simple does not nor should work on one issue at a time as that is inefficient.
And it's not that hard to read the damn bills and figure out where you agree with the propositions and where you don't.

I disagree
5500+ pages of political double speak is not easy to get through.

Not by a long shot
Time consuming, yes, but not hard. It's itemized, indexed, and easy to break down to divisible chunks on what money is being allocated to what programs. Some that democrats want, some that Republicans want.
It's a comprehensive relief aid package, not just a 'how much we should write on checks to the general public' bill. It should be long.

Why should they leave it alone?

Why shouldn't they make it very clear that the Repubs are the ones denying starving Americans something many clearly need.
Well said. Great post.

In fairness to Mr Hue, on this particular point, I think he was saying that Democrats ought to not add any additional riders / pork to the bill and just stick with the stimulus money. Which as far as I’m aware, this time, they did. Mitch blocked it anyway.

Trump and Pelosi are not on the same page. Trump wants the elections investigated and wants 230 killed. Both of those are in McConnell's version guaranteeing it will not be passed.

If anything, we have a triangle quadrangle:
Trump: $2000 + kill 230 to look like a hero and soothe his ego.
Pelosi/Schumer: $2000 because people need it.
McConnell: $2000 + kill 230 knowing it's a dead end. AKA Up Trump's ***.
added
Senate Republicans: No $2000 and loving McConnell - they don't have to vote (recorded) against it.

Hey, people of Georgia, are ya paying attention? Trump is gone. You have a chance to get rid of McConnell too.

It would be nice if it showed the sponsors of each of the pork items.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

At least we know where the real priorities lay with politicians and its not for the interests of the common folk.

Hah! Haven't the political and corporate classes been legislating assiduously for a century to hide any money trails or collusion?

Exactly, which is why they have become richer whereas so many middle-income families are suffering and lower-income families have fared even worse. And we see this also being played out now with this pandemic, whereas between 1/4 & 1/3 of the American families are food-stressed while our president golfs and his cronies in Congress are worried if they are not going to have enough vacation time.

And what I also find disgusting is that many farmers are plowing under or burning much of their crops, and yet the Republicans love giving farmers subsidies to gain their vote but couldn't care less about Joe and Mary Schmoe and the farmers who are in need and whom lost their jobs or much of their income though no fault of their own. Meanwhile, Trump & Co sit on their fat arses, counting their millions they have in investments, and then strutting round bragging about how much they're making in the stock market. What utter depravity.

I think the $600 checks are going out, but they blocked the passage of the $2000 stimulus checks. At least for now. It's an ongoing saga of political drama and intrigue.
