How can we get rural Americans to become excited for a space opera future?

I'm kind of wondering now if the death of the nuclear family had anything to do with it.
Historically the nuclear family is pretty recent - before grandparents and other relatives were part of the extended family. So that's one point.

Second "death" is hyperbole. I do agree single-parent families have it much harder economically etc. What's actually going down is the marriage rate with the divorce rate also declining. (Some of this is due to the baby boom wave)

I heard the development of prisons helps the economies of rural America.

This small Indiana county sends more people to prison than San Francisco and Durham, N.C., combined. Why?

How small-town jails drive America's high incarceration rate

What can be done to get rural Americans to welcome industries that advance humanity?

Schools and spaceships should be built! Not prisons!

What a ****ing joke.

And it saddens me that this ****ing horse**** thread actually gained any momentum. What a ****ing joke.
