How Close Did Chinese Military Jets Really Get to Taiwan?

Let's set the record straight.
The US does not, unfortunately, have a defense treaty with Tiawan.
However during President Trump's presidency the "cooporation" between the U.S. and Tiawan did "increase".
We do know that we have a few military personel in Taiwan involved in "training".
We do not know where the current administation stands on the policies put forth during the previous administration.
See: https://www.cato.org/commentary/reborn-us-taiwan-military-alliance for a synopsis of the previous (pre-Biden) alliance.

"Such a move would represent a major shift in the policy that Washington has pursued for more than four decades, and it would increase the risk of an armed conflict between China and the United States."

Note the conjunctive form, and the prediction.
Is war with China something desirable?
(I could see US arms manufacturers making bank, but other than them...?)
