How come most religious people seem to have a issue about Rock/metal?

The best Christian song I've ever heard comes from the metal outfit Savatage.

Because i like Rock/metal,but it seems many religious people try to get me away from the music that i like. Why do they do that?
There are often alot of references to the devil or satanic worshipping. I personally don't take it that serious but others do. I really have no way to know if the artist feels that way or is just trying to get attention or make an image for themselves. But I don't even believe in Satan.

There are some good Christian labels that carry a lot of metal (or labels that happen to carry a lot of Christian metal, hardcore, and punk) like Tooth and Nail, Facedown, Trustkill, Eulogy, Solid State, and many others.

I myself like a lot of metal/hardcore/punk that's explicitely Christian. All the early work of Norma Jean, Hopesfall, Nodes of Ranvier, Comeback Kid, As I Lay Dying, Sinai Beach, UnderOath (when they were still black metal inspired and not that emo crap they are now), etc.

Christian rock like He is Legend and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster is also good:

How could I forget the penultimate Christian metal band, Zao?

There's a whoooooole subculture of Christian rock, metal, /core, hardcore, and punk. I used to work in promotion and booking for a lot of DIY venues and I have to say I've always been impressed by a lot of the acts that came through, Christian or not.

Then there's non-Christian metal that just has a positive message:

Um,slipknot isn't metal. They're fake metal.

On many boards like ultimate-guitar,calling "slipknot" metal makes others to laugh at the person who called them metal.
:areyoucraWell.....let me make note of that so I wont make such a huge mistake again

lol. I think what he/she means is that Slipknot is what's often called NuMetal, pejoratively "Mall Metal" (think a bunch of kiddies buying from the corporate Hot Topic machine... very un-metal)

A lot of NuMetal acts are absolute crap for reasons beyond the whole superficial "it's not metal to like corporate crap" line. Slipknot is one of them, though they at least try to move further away from NuMetal on the spectrum, they fail.

Then again, a lot of people put The Deftones in the NuMetal category, and I think The Deftones are still utterly awesome. C'est la vie.

It isn't that most religious people seem to have a issue about rock/metal, but that those who do are religious. There's a difference.

Indeed.
There are some fairly decent Christian rock bands out there.

I used to understand and cared all about that, but as I got older I really didnt care for what is labeled what. Im not a fan of slipknot anymore to begin with.

But I still do love Deftones :D
