How do you define evolution?

I asked for evidence of evolution. Some of you provided what you consider incontrovertible evidence more or less proving the theory. I disagree because I don't believe it (life on earth) just happened to happen. As far as the Bible is concerned, you might want to look at different viewpoints about it at Bible - Wikipedia There are other articles and books about the Bible. Thanks, though, for your time.
And you denied it and then made a rather obviously false claim about evidence for the Bible. Would you care to retract that?

So you're already back to asserting that genetics don't tell us anything about lineage and ancestry. I.e. Just flat out denying reality.

Then you follow it with a another fallacious argument from incredulity.

No wonder this conversation never goes anywhere.
To set matters straight about that, I never said that genetics do not tell us anything about lineage and ancestry. Obviously you misunderstood what I said. I am speaking as to how far back do genetics show that a human is a human. Not a gorilla.

Denied what? I feel there is much evidence within the pages of the Bible that proves the accuracy therein. There are some things hard to understand in the Bible, but it says what it says. So since this board is not about proving the Bible record. Yes, I said I believe the Bible, and my questioning about evolution shows me that the theory is not believable. Now I know that many place the appearance of homo sapiens happened far earlier than what the Bible account shows. I no longer believe that many statements of fundamentalist evolutionists are true. I wish you well, and thank you for the conversation.

When you claim that evidence exists you put a burden of proof upon yourself. When you are challenged and do not provide any you have effectively admitted that the evidence does not exist.

I asked for evidence of evolution.

And you got plenty of it.
Your response was "i don't believe this evidence".

So yea...........................

Seems like an exercise in futility, to give you evidence of a scientific theory that you are hellbend, and even religious required, to reject.

I disagree because I don't believe it (life on earth) just happened to happen.

See? PURE argument from incredulity.

"I disagree because I don't believe it".

Ie: "my evidence against evolution, is that i don't believe it".

uhu.

Why would we care what the bible says when the topic is modern biology?

When I was questioning as you and a few others are, I was told by a religious person that faith is one of the "gifts of the spirit." And I not only did not believe in God at the time, but I had no faith. In God. I more or less told him that. He said that only God can give you this gift. It was difficult for me at the time to go any further with the conversation. Thank you for your consideration about evolution.

Gullibility (= what faith is), is not a "gift". If anything, it's like a curse.

Again your rejecting the science of evolution with a religious agenda of 'belief.' It is unethical to reject science without a knowledge of science. Ny the way science fortunately does not 'prove' anything. Proof is the venue of logic and math. You ask for evidence, but do not remotely understand the scientific evidence provided.

It is obvious with a little knowledge of science that nothing in nature 'just happened.' By the 'objective verifiable evidence' evolution is the natural result of Natural Laws and natural processes,

You're all over the place on this, sometimes you agree that genetics tell us about ancestry and sometimes you don't.
It's your cognitive dissonance at work. You believe conflicting things, because you're forced (for some bizarre reason) to believe what you think the Bible says, at all costs. Even if that requires denying reality.

I am speaking as to how far back do genetics show that a human is a human. Not a gorilla.

Sorry but this doesn't make any sense in light of what we've been explaining to you about ancestry.

What on earth is a "fundamentalist evolutionist?"

Have you already forgotten the the evidence for evolution comes from multiple different fields of science?

Oh but I forgot, you prefer to just accept the claims of some ancient book at face value without further investigation or any evidence at all. Honestly, I feel like laughing out loud when you go on about how there is no evidence for evolution while you believe every single thing contained within the Bible without question.

Religious testimonials will not make your case without science is meaningless in a thread dealing with the science of evolution., nor any other science. The hundreds of thousands if not millions of diverse and conflicting religious testimonials from many different religions. On the other hand 95%+ of ALL scientists in the scientific fields related to evolution agree that evolution is based on 'objective verifiable evidence' agree that evolution is the history of life on earth from simple single celled organisms.

Upon reflection, there is no real verification of the genetic and literal process of evolution. To say that life evolved historically from a chance meeting of the supposed initial organisms is absolute conjecture. The rest of it (evolution from that) is also conjecture. But -- if you believe it -- that's what counts for you. :) And, of course, other like-minded individuals.

I expect to see what happens as foretold. Because you have that attitude towards the Bible, as many do, considering it a book of myths, it would be folly for me to discuss this with you because so much is in conflict with common 'scientific' beliefs.
Nevertheless, as I said, according to scientists and experts today, the earth is in a very precarious state for humankind. Which it is, if the Almighty does not step in. Which I believe He will. At this point, it's probably best if we say so long for now...:)

fractally wrong.

You do not realize it, but you are still calling your God a liar.

In fact you just put the burden of proof upon you. It has been explained again and again how it is not conjecture. Care to back up your claims or is this merely more nonsense that you are posting. Claims that you have to know are wrong if you paid any attention at all.

Myths are a big part of the Bible. There is some history, but there is probably even more mythology. That does not make it worthless. Sadly what you do to it does make it almost worthless.

'In reflection there is no real verification of the genetic and literal process of evolution.' from your perspective is ro rely on the faith of your belief, one of hundreds of thousands of different conflicting claims based on 'faith' with no effort to consider the scientific evidence, You have no knowledge of what is verifiable in science and what is not. Religious beliefs are selevtive and not verifiable by any independent objective methods.

This thread is about the science of evolution. Can you make an effort to deal with the science of evolution instead of a religious testimonial?

A fundamentalist evolutionist is one that insists that evolution is the only reason that you and I are alive. I no longer subscribe to that theory. It's my term for this conversation. Fundamentalist evolutionist. That means that sheer evolution and nothing else is the reason we are alive. :) I hope that helps explain my term there.

I understand you do not believe as I do, in the Bible and God as the reason for life in its varied forms. I appreciate the conversation, and it has helped me to realize what believers in the theory of evolution believe, how, and why. Again -- if I thought it was more than conjectural reasoning on objects and lookalikes (such as chimpanzees and gorillas and humans), I might go with it. But -- now that I don't ascribe to that theory as outlined by Darwin and his supporters, with or without variances on the theory and changes made when new discoveries are made, I have chosen a different way of seeing life. But thanks anyway. While I understand the reasoning behind your firm belief in what you believe, I no longer accept the conclusions you draw from what you consider as evidence. So thank you again for explaining your view. Your view, based on your projection of the future is quite different from mine. Therefore -- :) we are differing. :)

Again, I have looked at the evidence you use to support or verify your theory.
I no longer see it as proving or supporting the theory. But -- I thank you all for your answers.
