How do You Envision Heaven and Hell?

That is, on a "day-to-day" basis, what do you think your "life" will be like?

If you go to hell will you be roasting in an everlasting fire, scrubbing dirty pots and pans for all eternity, just stare at a blank wall for the rest of your unearthly existence? OR . . . .

If you go to heaven will you be going around with an eternal smile on your face because you're so gosh darn happy, listen to the heavenly choir go on about the glory of god, have interminable encounters with old friends? OR . . . .

.

Hell: - endless X-Factor; forced to attend Whitney Houston concerts, a Kent Hovind lecture, Boris Johnson as PM.

Heaven: - A Fall gig c1982, a pint of Boddington's beer (Must have been brewed in Manchester); an Alice Robert's lecture, a middle of the road politician as PM

To be honest we really don't know what hell or heaven will be like.

I liked to believe that Heaven is the absence of anything negative.

I liked the AMC's show Preacher's version of Hell where you live your worst memory over and over again.

It has been said that Heaven in nearness to God and Hell is remoteness. It has been said that we are given this life to acheive this aim, thus heaven and hell are already part of our life.

I expect after we pass on, that we will mirror what we have tried to be in this life.

What I know is, and you didn't here this from me, but Hell has a good side because the devil is hatred, and creates a literal anti-Christ. They say hatred can never be separated from adversity.

Heaven and hell represent different feelings we have when reviewing our past lives on the astral plane. A balance of positive actions are experienced as heaven. Negative, destructive actions are regretted deeply and experienced as hell.

Sir Doom

Cooler than most of you
In Heaven, I'm in charge of everything and everything goes according to plan, no matter how lazy or illogical that plan is.

In Hell, I'm in charge of everything and everything goes haywire no matter how hard I try.

I like reality. I'm in charge of everything and it can go either way for a variety of reasons.

EDIT: Added the second bit to Heaven.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
Heaven is where everyone looks out for everyone else there. They care for the others as themselves. Infinite possibility governed by total order where everything exists is for the purpose of life. Heaven is where caring souls are never abandoned, and always their welfare is sought out so that they are never in need. Heaven is a place of self sufficiency where no one lacks. Heaven is where all things new and old happen everyday. In heaven there is none evil, nothing ever wears out, and there is no death. Heaven is a place of glorious attributes only. Heaven spans the infinite endless with no end to it. In heaven there is no want, only healthy desires. Heaven is the glory of a charitable heart. A place of deservingness.

None of the above. How can you envision something that you don't believe exists, other than something like science fiction, where it truly is all imagination?

Then you're excused from the test. ;) Pick up your books and go wait in the hall.

Serving God is serious business.

I think Hell will be - weeping and gnashing of teeth, extreme thirst, no sleep, no rest day or night, the company of evil spirits and the worst of humanity that has ever existed, mental anguish with constant regret, and eternal torment with no way to change things or escape

Heaven will be - eternal life in the company of God, his holy angels, and the best of mankind that has ever existed; peace, rest, no more tears, no mourning, no more pain or death, no suffering, no more trials or temptations, perfect weather, streets of gold, no work, wonderful music, extremely beautiful surroundings, possibly being able to fly, along with many other wonderful surprises he has for those who have served him.

No aging, no sickness, no suffering, no pain....and no death. (Revelation 21:2-4)

If you go to hell will you be roasting in an everlasting fire, scrubbing dirty pots and pans for all eternity, just stare at a blank wall for the rest of your unearthly existence?

Since the Bible says that we all go to "hell" (sheol, hades) and that there is no activity or consciousness there, "hell" is nothing more than a sleep without dreaming. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10)

OR . . . .

There is no "OR"

There is not one scripture in the Bible that says we have a choice between heaven and hell.....the church made that up after adopting the false doctrine of an immortal soul. (from the Greeks) If you invent a life after death, then you have to invent places for these fictitious "souls" to go. The Catholic church went overboard on this, but although Protestantism rejected the Catholic ideas of purgatory and Limbo, they kept the basic doctrine of immortal souls living on after death. The trouble is, the Bible does not teach it. Adam was simply told that he would return to the dust...nothing more. (Genesis 3:19)

If you go to heaven will you be going around with an eternal smile on your face because you're so gosh darn happy, listen to the heavenly choir go on about the glory of god, have interminable encounters with old friends?

Those who go to heaven have a job to do. They have a specific role as 'kings and priests' ruling with Christ in his heavenly kingdom. (Revelation 20:6) Since kings need subjects, and priests need sinners for whom to perform their duties, those who go to heaven will rule over subjects on earth.....the place where God intended humans to live forever in the first place. God never gave Adam and his wife a "heaven or hell" scenario.....he just gave them two choices....obey and live....disobey and die. There was no mention of an afterlife.

OR . . . ..

The "OR" here is humanity being restored to their original relationship with God. That is what the rule of the Kingdom is for.....reconciliation with God. Jesus came so that humans could continue to live on earth in paradise conditions forever, just as God originally purposed. (Isaiah 55:11) God did not create the earth for nothing.....

Isaiah 45:18..."For this is what Jehovah says,
The Creator of the heavens, the true God,
The One who formed the earth, its Maker who firmly established it,
Who did not create it simply for nothing, but formed it to be inhabited:
“I am Jehovah, and there is no one else."

Well Heaven is obviously a place where all those who have a different religion can come to together and praise each other for having their own individual beliefs and Hell obviously is the alternative place where they will argue eternally that their belief is still the correct one.

Yes, I think that is what heaven will be like. Heaven is knowledge God, loving God and others, good intent and actions, and caring about others more than oneself. Hell is the opposite of that, lack of knowledge of God, loving self, evil intent and actions, and caring about self more than others. We make our own heaven and hell both in this life and in the next by our own thoughts, intent and actions, God does not send us there.

Those who go to hell would not be comfortable in heaven because they would not want to be where God and Angels reside. All they ever knew in this life was selfishness, passion, and attachment to the material world, so that is what they will gravitate towards. Hell will just be more of the same except there will be nothing physical there so they won't be able to quench their desires. All they will have are their memories of what they had in this life, forever. God does not torture people; they will just get what they wanted and chose. They will settle in hell with others who are like them. Sadly, they will never know the difference, what they could have had in heaven. :( They bartered away eternal happiness for a few years of physical happiness in this world.
