How good are you at recycling?

To separate materials is something I am very methodical and inflexible about.

I get mad at someone who is not as good as me in doing that.. not like Serial Mom...though...:p

I would say I am okay at it. I put out 2 bags of recyclables for every one of garbage for weekly pick up (same size bags). Organics go to the community garden for compost. The only issue I have is metal and electronics as the service I use no longer takes either as a recyclables. The local depot handling both closed with the closest operation being 30 mins away (highway + light city traffic). So I tend to horde metal until I feel a trip is worth it.

Unrecyclable plastic must be brought to the municipality collection centers indeed.
In the plastic bins we can only put recyclable plastic.

The services dropped this type of disposal as the depot closed. There was only one depot handling metal, electronics, recyclable plastics and chemicals. Government has not stepped in with an alternative be it extension of service to non-local depots or opening a new depot.

The service, or the depot contracted, provides detailed sorting in the sense it will separate different recycles for the customer. All I need to do is separate garbage from recyclables in different coloured bags; black and blue. I use a private service not the public option. The public option has no recyclable services as pickup. It just collects garbage without a care if the items are recyclable or not.
