Jungian interpretation of religion - Wikipedia comments that "Because beliefs do not have to be true in order for people to hold them, the Jungian interpretation of religion has been, and continues to be, of interest to psychologists and theists."

Question for you @crossfire : RF takes a positive view of religion in its rules. I've been posting here for almost 8 years. Mainly RF functions as a repository of information for search engines, but it has maintained an active population since my arrival (You're welcome ;)). Taken over time RF has comments from hordes of people in many religions. You, crossfire, have helped moderate here in the past. Would you say that the rules are Jungian compatible?

I gather that when he dies in 1961 Jung leaves a legacy of other Psychologists who further his work. There are some famous ones who talk about it and try to summarize it for us.
Here's a virtual tour of the Jung Institute of Chicago. Its got doors and desks and everything! : Jung Institute Virtual Tour I'll summarize it by saying the rooms all have names. One of them is named the 'Sandtray room'. Is that Jungian or what??? I have have only one objection to their layout. The kitchen has 2 microwave ovens at brain-level. A Psychologist ought to be a little more careful. Those things leak. A little bit of the microwave light energy always escapes, and it goes for whatever tissue is softest. Give them a few feet of distance while they run. That's my advice.

It's not like this area is going to be a cover for bashing religions.

If putting different religious beliefs into Jungian terms (as to how they interact within the psyche) does not violate the forum rules, we should be good. I can't guarantee that some members of the different religions won't be offended by the Jungian interpretation, however. If Carl Jung's Answer to Job is fine from the standpoint of the forum rules, we should be good.

Its a point of view, isn't it? Considering the tumultuous religious confrontations of our time it probably is not that controversial compared to many other points of view that are on RF.

I'm easily susceptible to Jungian terminology/lingo, lol. I reference all of that a lot because much of it is relevant, albeit not in a materialist way. Archetypes, Shadow, Ego and Anima/Animus especially are ideas that, some of which, I naturally picked up myself actually from my own self-analysis.
Jung brought (or applied) Gnostic/Dharmic/Islamic/Kabbalistic metaphysics into psychology, so in a sense he bridged an important gap there because, as the Hermetic axiom goes "as above, so below", in the manner that the metaphysical and psychological planes have correlation, although limited to the degree of literalism of their relation (because it still remains that he simply flipped the tables through many of his influences).

I like earlier Jung more than later Jung, I like aspects of Freud as well, however I find the overall maps of thinkers like Heidegger to be more of use in a wider sense. They all have their big nuggets of truth but still fail in many areas IMHO.
