In this poll, I am asking RF members how many times they have switched religions in their lives.

When taking this poll, what counts as a religion is up to you. Some might see sampradāyas, branches, and church denominations as separate religions while others might not. One might see simple panentheism or deism as a religion while somebody else doesn’t. Also, what counts as adhering to a religion is up to you. For instance, if you were merely testing out a religion and then settled on a different religion, did you indeed adhere to the former?

I think the results will be interesting.
Never.

It depends on how you want to tell the story and apply word-label-things to the experiences of life and living.

Anywhere between zero and countless. Personally, I could tell the story in two ways.

The first way to tell the story is to understand that one's religion is who one is and whose one belongs to. One only ever has one religion - your own - that changes and adapts over time as you do. That is, everyone has a religion and that religion is the personal approach they take to understanding their life experiences in relation with the greater world.

The second way to tell the story is to use word-label-thing boxes that are common to mainstream culture. The construction of those religion boxes is somewhat wibbly and arbitrary, which leaves imprecise numbers of how many times one has or hasn't switched who one is and whose one belongs to.

I like the first way better. It is easier and less confusing and more straightforward. The second way of telling the number of ticks depends on external factors like how your culture decides to slice the word-label-thing boxes.

For the purposes of this poll, does atheism count as a religion?

I don't really know how to answer this.

My religious terminology has changed. My focus has changed. But religion is such a personal thing, and I've never quite 'fit' no matter where I go that my religion has always been my religion.

I prefer to see it as growing and evolving at this point.

Interesting results!

Most people on here seem to have changed at least once. That is to be expected I guess - you won't hop on a forum like this unless you have a lot of emotions and thoughts around the subject, so you are likely to have changed your life accordingly.
