Most of these things are a case of interpretation. For example, as a skeptic I would not dream of denying that "there may be something to astrology, tarot, and fortune telling." Also there are tons of cop outs "most illegal drugs"!!

LOL. If you have some death metal,something Britney spears-esque, some bluegrass, and some African tribal music on your ipod or whatever, I concede defeat.

Death metal: well so much to choose from . Opeth. Metal is my favourite genre so 'nuff said.
Britney Spears-esque: Britney Spears Greatest Hits . She of course has an amazing voice and her writers are top notch judging by the stuff they churn out. As with most bubblegum, the catchiness makes it hard not to appreciate although the number of groups with lasting appeal (such as Britney) is more limited.
Bluegrass: I don't having a strong liking of the general vocal style (newgrass improves on this substantially) but strings are just wonderful and the variety is addictive. Bill Monroe (of course) and New Grass Revival.
African tribal music - Its incredibly difficult to get hold of any non-Western folk music. However, you can easily hear heavy influences in many bands playing modern African music for example Shirati Jazz. If you are talking about the various forms of ritual and functional drum beats then there is a lot to like there but I don't have any on my ipod (only full albums get put on there because of lack of space).

Scott Joplin is a legend. His music is way too easy to appreciate: catchy and technically impressive. By the way if you listen to his stuff (or most ragtime for that matter) in midi then you can hear the strong influence on some gameboy music, another genre I happen to like .

However I will admit a preference to recently recorded music (ie post 1980) since the increase in quality is so great as to spoil the ears (or at least my ears) to music recorded beforehand.
