How religious are you?

Percentage wise, how much of your time is consumed with religious endeavors? I have to admit somewhere around 90% of my time is consumed with religion... Some days 100% unless I am sleeping.

Holy smokes, that's a lot compared to most people, including me... you should be proud of this, yet it almost sounds like you are ashamed...

just 90? and what do you do with the other 10% ? loool.

religion is not today you believe tomorrow you don't. Religion is in everything you do.

Thats where Christianity looses its credibility.

Religion is a 100% thing. If you really believe in your religion, it should affect every aspect of your life. It should affect your outlook, your attitude, your behavior. Someone once asked me "How much time do you spend studying Torah?" I replied, "I spend all my time studying Torah." They asked "How is it possible that you can study 100% of the time? I see you doing other things than studying?"

My response was, "Simple, when I am engaged in life and living my life as the Torah stipulates then I am studying Torah. Torah study consists of learning Torah, acting on Torah, and using Torah in your daily life to affect your decisions. Do I sin? Yes. Yet at the same time I try my hardest not to while keeping the Torah in mind."

Ah, ok. I thought he meant time literally spent in church or whatever equivalent and reading whatever religious text, and time spent conciously thinking about God (and doing nothing else).

I think about other peoples religion a lot, but religion is like a hobby to me. I don't actively participate in any religion but I read books about them so I would say maybe 10-20 percent of my time is taken up by reading books about religion.

Same here. God is on my mind most of the day.

Make it 5% and I can use your answer..

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I spend about three hours a day actually contemplating God, moral values, theology and sociological issues.

Hopefully (and this is my goal), my actions and mindset throughout the day reflect my Christian beliefs.

Religion is the discovery and growth of one's spiritual being. However there are times that I find myself in social situations that I don't feel very religious and realize this as times I am acting purely as a carnal being.

I agree knight, and generally I do this. I try to observe everything through my religious beliefs, however, I am not perfect and I know I fail at this sometimes. Which is why I said 90%. However, if my failures can still be considered religious discovery, than maybe 100% is the reality.

You seem to confuse being religious with being compulsive.
Yeah I have been compulsive for about 17 years. I am seeing a shrink about it.
Love you Jay!

5 prayer without ceasing...
(New Testament | Acts12:5)

46 The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion,
(Doctrine and Covenants | Section121:46)

It is like going through the day with a song on your mind... or if you have ever been in love, and you go through the day with a happy joy that follows you around because you know you are loved, and have found someone to love. Religion is the energy, the reason, the motivation, the meaning, the purpose that follows you through your day... the awe that makes everything around you have meaning and purpose.

Once you are aware of God, you can have Him as a constant companion, you can feel His presence, have every step guided by Him. This is the goal. Darkness/anger/ drive Him away. Light/truth/peace invite. When you can keep yourself free of the evil/carnal mind, you will attain 100%.

I don't think I can really put it into a percentage... it's not the kind of thing that I would want to calculate. It just is.
