So, it strikes me that some members of RF are especially considerate of their fellow posters. Such members have easy to pronounce posting names. They structure them so that you can easily shorten their posting names, and end up with a nice, easy to use name for that poster, which is handy in chat, or when casually conversing, as opposed to trying to eviscerate them in a flame war. They also avoid numbers, symbols, spaces and capitals, so you can slap their name out quickly, especially useful when tagging them with our new functionality.
I'm just trying to think of a nice, simple example for you lovely folks to illustrate my point. Hmmm....
Actually, that lovely @lewisnotmiller fellow is a perfect example...ahem...
Shorten it to Lewis, or Lew and away you go.
Everyone knows how to pronounce it, no spaces, no symbols, no capitals.
Here, then, is a poster who considers his fellow RF member.
At the other end of the spectrum is the poster who doesn't care. You look at their posting name, and think 'Well, that means...umm...and you'd say it like...umm...and if I dislocate my fingers I can almost type it...errr...'
I suppose you want an example of that sort of rampant hedonism, right? Well, I don't want to point to any REAL RF posters, since the community would obviously turned on them. So I'll use a made up example. Completely made up.
@Iti oj
First off, is that first letter a capital I or a lower case L? EVERYONE knows not to use a capital I in their username. And a space? Really? And...and...wow. Just wow. HOW are you supposed to pronounce that surname? Is it 'odge'? Is it 'ohjay'? Complete disregard for their fellow posters. Lucky I just made up this username, and it doesn't refer to a real poster, since they'd clearly be a reprobate, interested more in haunting chat rooms than spending time on grammar.
(err...so it's iti-ohjay, and apparently this is a real posting account. Who'd have thunk it, right?)
Next in our series about how to tell if a poster respects their community will be a discussion on avatars, and the clearly good ones (symmetrical) as opposed to the terrible ones with ridiculous cartoon characters having drunken relation with other ridiculous cartoon representations of Wirey.
