While I agree that tat khAlsa followers often have the tendency to minimize the influence of Hinduism on Sikhism (Sikhism is probably the closest religion I know of to Hinduism), I would have to agree with Treks and ranvIr here. Sikhism and Hinduism ARE independent belief systems.Yes, some people never get it or will never accept it. Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was one of the greatest exponents of Upanishads. If you accept differences, you are not following Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. :tsk:
Being an atheist advaitist hindu, there are points on which I agree with Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and there are points where I differ. Nonetheless I greatly rever him.
I somewhat agree. Especially after all that 1984 nonsense..Escapes me, flounders me, why a Hindu is not a Sikh and why a Sikh is not Hindu? Politics, I suppose. Now, which is a Hindu who will not agree to the above?
If I was a theist, I would have had lesser differences with the 'Bani'. I have lots of differences even with theist Hindus. 'Wahe guru da khalsa wahe guru di fateh'.Everyone is free to believe what they want. And if u disagree then its ur choice, I was giving clear references from gurubani as why Sikhism is so different to Hinduism or Islam ( gosh it's not hard to explain)
If I was a theist, I would have had lesser differences with the 'Bani'. I have lots of differences even with theist Hindus. 'Wahe guru da khalsa wahe guru di fateh'.
Like I said, u r entitled to ur opinion...But Sikhism is as close to Hinduism as water to fire...They r completely different if u have knowledge about both
Seriously? "Hindu" imagery is abound throughout the Guru Granth Sahib:
