good point, but there are some people out there who shouldnt be parents at all. the way they treat thier kids and abuse, its just horrendous. to have children is a privelage, not a right, thats how i see it.
That's an excellent point. It's too bad that there ISN'T some kind of test that had to be passed in order to be a parent. I know some people who wouldn't have qualified! (Not my parents, though. They were just fine.)

But what Johnny said about having kids and raising them to be good people to counteract the bad ones....I take it, then, that you believe it's a question of nurture instead of nature that makes up whether a person will turn out "good" or "bad"?

Also, doesn't that distinction (good vs. bad) depend on what belief structure you have? Isn't morality based on a person's religious beliefs?

Just want to add to a previous post of mine that I now manage meeting babies as well as reading unreflecting posts from youngsters who just assume that wishing to have children equals getting a fair number of them. I'm really not very upset by those things any more.

Give them a egg to take care of for a month, if it breaks, they fail.

We had a dog on my father's small farm, she used to help collect the eggs - every day, she'd carry one right back to the house (200 metres) without ever breaking one!:)

Well, but we really can't trust anyone to regulate who has kids and who doesn't. Then you get someone in power that hates a certain race of group, and we have another Hitler on our hands. If parents abuse their children, the law says they should be taken away and put in foster homes. If the parents get help and all seems well, they can get them back.

perhaps make the parents better parents? Nice one, but how?
- The problems often are only discovered as being there when damage has already occured; I have no answer-I'm the first one to admit it; any ideas?:)
