A simple look back in short term history and the events now proves beyond a doubt Trump needs secret service protection. Not to be stripped of that protection in order to make him vulnerable to future attempts to assassinate him just because he was declared as a felon in the People's Republic of New York.

Trump's whole campaign is based on threatening to corrupt, weaken or destroy American institutions, starting with the Republic. It is not like he is attempting to hide that.

Of course there are plenty of people hoping that he dies and spares us from all that indignity. But to actually accuse anyone is a very serious step to take.

I can't deny that I am shocked by how lucky the old fart was and the thought of how it could be for the best if the shot were more accurate definitely entered my mind. I won't make an apology for that; Trump and his supporters do not deserve such a gesture. Sorry, they just do not.

But to present it as a staged thing is, unfortunately, a step too far. For one thing, Trump does not strike me as anyone who would trust anyone's aim, let alone to perform such a feat intentionally.

It doesn't make sense for the Democratic Party* to want Trump dead. A more competent Republican candidate would be harder for Biden to defeat.

*Edited because I suspect a lot of individual Democrats may not mourn so much over Trump's death out of sheer self-defense. Please note, I am not condoning political violence, only stating how I think the people impacted by Trump and other conservative political positions may feel.

If your intent was to assassinate a president wouldn't one register and infiltrate to get closer?
