How Well Do You Really Know Your Fellow RFers?

I confess that I miss @Badran like I'd miss a brother. An especially irritating and annoying brother, to be sure, but still a brother. He was a loyal friend with a great sense of humor, an outstanding mod and admin, a creative spirit who thought for himself, and a tragically pathetic dresser, but one of his most remarkable traits, in my opinion, was his willingness to listen to people. He didn't practice it perfectly, but who does? I think, perhaps a bit more than most of us, he tried to understand people before judging them. I am certain he did that at least somewhat better than me. Like I said, he could be annoying that way.

@Madhuri is one of the funniest and wittiest people I've encountered on this forum. She has the sort of humor that could make one enjoy listening to her explanations of different subjects even if they're not humorous subjects.

She also has an accent that sounds more American than Australian, which I found out fairly recently during a voice call with her. An all-around interesting person, I might say. :D

@sayak83 is also incredibly well-versed in a number of areas of science. It's always a learning experience to read his posts!

I totally agree. Hiring Polymath was a coup for the Forum. It was also a tragedy for him, of course, but we shouldn't speak too much of that. :D

My wife doesn't seem to care. There is that time sink aspect....but I had that anyway. It's an honor to work with the mods here.

Not as well as I would like, but that will change over time.

I won't single out any individual but, so far as I can tell, all you folks have been fair, patient, inquisitive, friendly, respectful and [INSERT POSITIVE ATTRIBUTE HERE]. You've made a relative newbie to this site feel welcome, and I'm thankful for that.

Also, you folks are busy! This is one of the most active sites of its kind I've ever encountered.

@Sunstone is a budding artist and an avid blogger, and who even for a blogger is more inquisitive than is healthy even for someone who's built a resistance to it by studying philosophy for longer than @Debater Slayer has been alive. He's known to rise early in the morning intent on scaring the deer in his backyard, and he may or may not have snuck out on nude trips in his youth -- always in good company, mind you! These days he mainly sneaks to buy canvases, mostly because there's never one that's quite the right size.

He also takes special pride in torturing @Terese who, alas, being the sweet person she is, has yet to have told him the Socratic method doesn't include banging students with a coffee cup in the morning. But what a coffee cup it is!

That, however, is a story for another day.

@Sunstone @LuisDantas et. al., given the contentious nature of the common topics on RF, I think the mods do an amazing job of keeping the peace - no brown-nosing intended - thanks guys!

@Augustus seems very well thought out - I find him a tough debater!
@Rival very astute, very clever
@Revoltingest pretends not to be the engineer he is - not sure why ;) engineers rock!

I lack the keen social awareness typical of other engineers.
It's all I can do to minimize the shame I cause them.
