How will Trump accomplish a miracle? A question for Trump supporters.

I agree with these statements except that, by the Obama quote alone with no other context, he does not seem to be making any promises, only stating the American people need the Federal government to be able to compromise in order to mitigate the problems he listed.
And that is a huge difference. A comment like such as "you will be happy" suggests that only you know how to make people happy, that only you know what they need, and that only you can deliver it. And that is perfect rubbish.

It was this speech. It is a very good example of effective political rhetoric, but it is functionally the same as a Trump speech (who is also good at speaking to his base).

This speech is basically progressive MAGA.

Edit: wrong speech this CNN one is correct

Will leave this here anyway as it’s similar.

I think your dislike of Trump is causing you to judge him by different standards.

A politician basically saying he will make things better for you (in a campaign speech no less) is just business as usual.

It would be remarkable if he didn’t use some form of that statement.

You are criticising him for style, and confusing it for substance imo.

While it is true that I dislike Trump, I ask the same of every politician who tells me (s)he'll "make things better" without further information. I always ask, "okay, HOW, specifically?" I don't purchase from hucksters and snake-oil salesmen.

As a former salesperson, Trump fails to engage me in that he goes way to far in promising benefits to me with no questioning of what I am even looking for, it is the mark of plaid jacket style, and after now almost 10 years, I would only buy a used car from him with a 2 hr analysis from an external mechanic and a Google review of known problems.
