No rhyme or reason, nobody knows what happened, just randomly you blink your eyes and suddenly color doesn't exist anymore, life's looking like a 1940's TV show.

Didn't get a color TV until the '70's
First computer (built myself) had monochrome monitor. Used them for years.
Just recycled that first monitor, the plastic case got so brittle it broke like an eggshell.

I'd manage.
