Human Supremacy

I attribute influence with superiority because it can force someone's will on someone or something else, which is something we unfortunately can do, things like hunting something to extinction is basically our influence of violence so much that we have asserted ourselves over them. I consider us being dominant there, and therefor being supreme.
Disease can bring a nation to its knees and can destroy entire populations of animals, sometimes even species (e.g. african wild dogs). Does that mean the bacteria or viruses are superior to us?

Hey Master, I have a question about Tao (I know very little about it),

Do you believe in a superhuman being, or do you believe in spirits, and where did it originate?

Thanks.

No, it does not. They are not technologically superior to us, and still we can fight them using our own inventions. The human immune system can also fight bacteria and viruses. Think about it, we have almost wiped the entire world free of smallpox and plague, which is much different then hundreds of years ago when it was just opposite, based on that fact, I doubt any micro-organism will ever be "superior" to us in all aspects.

Tao is not necessarily a supreme being. It is the source of all, and the whole of all. It is not a god with human characteristics, just a oneness to the universe. The spirits are simply life, evergy, or to a taoist, Chi. But my experience with spirits also leads to a more pagan and shamanistic view of the spirit world. Its very complicated. Pretty much, anything with life possesses a spirit (chi) and anything without life reflects the spirit of those closest to it. The tao is what creates, destroys, and causes everything, and the spirits are a direct creation from it. Its more complicated than that. But if you wish to know more, you can pm me and I can help clarify.

HIV is spreading and killing like wildfire, even in the western world where we have drugs to combat it. How can something that is inferior to us do us so much damage?

I'm not saying we haven't done some amazing things, no other life form has ever travelled to the moon under their own volition. But then again, bacteria are alive on the moon, as we speak, we could not do that. Surely superiority is subjective and changes depending upon the context?

Nice point, but have you heard about people in Africa who should have contracted HIV hundreds of times and are naturally immune to it? They are in the process of studying their blood and creating antibodies for mass production. HIV will not end the world, but it is a serious epidemic. And just like we usually do, humans will find a way to stop it. Also please note, no one dies from AIDS, just from complications of AIDS, due to the HIV viruses attack on Helper T Cells within the immune system. So just to kill they need to outnumber us with 2 different types of bacteria/viruses. There are some instances where humans are vulnerable, but overall, I still believe we are the most dominant/influential/supreme figure here. But, Halcyon, nice point :)

Why thank you kind Saw :D. You've got a good knowledge of HIV/AIDS, brings back memories of my medical microbiology studies *shudders* not my favourite subject.
I guess we just won't agree on the subject of human superiority.

Personally i consider the human species as a whole to be vermin, a global parasite of plague proportions, individually we're alright though ;).

My knowledge isn't too great on AIDS, though. I just remember reading an article on HowStuffWorks.com about HIV/AIDS a few months back. lol
I agree though that we are destructive, and even a global parasite. But, I also think that we have the most influence on everything in both positive and negative ways. When I mean humans are dominant it means in overall power, not in good ways only. Frubals to you!
