Seems that Hunter has decided to plead guilty to charges vice face a trial. However, that negates President Biden's claim that Hunter did no wrong.
At least Hunter has to face the fact that he is guilty of a crime.

And President Biden was correct when he addressed all the false accusations against Hunter.

It creates the strong impression that punishment
is for the little folk, not for the powerfully connected.
A felony gun crime & paying no taxes for 2 years.
I think I'd spend some time in the pokey if the fed
took a 5 year interest in me for the same offenses.

On the other hand, it is in fact unusual to bring such charges against someone who has in fact repaid the owed taxes, which Hunter did a couple of years ago. It's also not very often that the particular gun charge is brought unless there has been some evidence of violent behaviour. So, there's the possibility that Biden is being treated slightly more harshly than others in similar circumstances.

But appearances are otherwise.
5 years of investigating.
Only tax evasion & a felony gun charge.
Prosecution evaporates, & probation is all he gets.
Daddy is Prez.
The total picture sounds outside the norm.
Even if it's cromulent, it reinforces the view
that politicians are above the law.
I do know one person who spent time in federal
prison for tax evasion. His father was a nobody.

The particular felony gun charge was "a charge that he illegally possessed a firearm while being a drug user. Federal law prohibits people who use drugs from possessing firearms or ammunition"

Many people who illegaly possess a gun are charged.
