In Florida that is incredibly foolish. Where I live it would be a "meh" statement since the jail is extremely safe. Where I live it is not flat. An 11 ft storm surge would only affect some beach front businesses. Florida is flat, flat, flat. That jail will be almost certainly be flooded. The odds are that 90% of them could have been released on their own recognizances and the rest should have been transported to another state.

Hope everyone stays safe.

I don't think I could ever live in a hurricane zone. I also wouldn't want to live in tornado alley, and I've resisted living in California because of earthquakes.
Most every place has some type of severe weather.

Not Revoltistan.
Never gets very cold for long.
Never gets hot for long.
No earthquakes.
No flooding. Some parts of MI get it.
No volcanoes.
No hurricanes.
There are tornados in MI, but none has ever hit Revoltistan.
No severe snow storms.
Sometimes ice storms will knock down branches.
So we have chainsaws.

I remember getting this book, published in 1980, called "We Are the Earthquake Generation."

This is what the back cover had on it:

I am singing the title of this book to the "We Are The Pepsi Generation" song.
