Something should definetly be done about the way Walgreens handled her presciption but suing goes a bit far. I think the person complaining shouldn't be compensated for damages in some cases; instead, the person who was harrassing should be punished somehow. Ah well, I dunno. I need to think about that a little more.

How about both? Lose the license and pay about $10,000 plus court costs.

Give me a break. Seriously, people like this bother me. I'm bipolar, do I have a problem with people knowing that, no? Who gives a whoodle-de-doodle about it.
Iagree. That's why I have big problems with HIPAA. I think they cause a lot of unnecessary complications for patients trying to coordinate communications with and between various medical providers. I know, because I had to devote a lot of time and effort over the past year trying to assist my partner with the incredibly tangled health care web of red tape.:banghead3

Rich and I have argued on this point MANY times over the last year. I couldn't disagree with you more, Rich. (Which is odd, cause we're always on the same page).

HIPAA is there for a great reason. To protect the patients. The struggles you had over the last year had NOTHING to do with HIPAA. Unfortunately, you ran into some healthcare "professionals" who were lazy and didn't want to do their job. That should not be blamed on HIPAA.

HIPAA made us want to scream and really didn't do much for the paitents for the sheer amount of WORK that had to be done for it. :/ Besides, you know, more paperwork which made them more angry at us.

Also- a hospital tried to justify not allowing me to access MY OWN medical records through HIPAA. Which was the first time I stole from a hospital- and it was my own MRIs.
