I am so confused. Should I keep the Sabbath?

Pegg

Jehovah our God is One
God doesnt mind if you choose to keep one day as a day of observance to him.

But he'd be much happier if you chose to enter his rest as Paul recommends at
Hebrews 4:9 So there remains a sabbath resting for the people of God. 10 For the man that has entered into [God’s] rest has also himself rested from his own works, just as God did from his own. 11 Let us therefore do our utmost to enter into that rest.."

What it means to enter Gods rest is this:
Isaiah 66:23 “And it will certainly occur that from new moon to new moon and from sabbath to sabbath all flesh will come in to bow down before me,”

Notice the verse says 'from sabbath TO sabbath'

There are 6 days between sabbaths... so there are actually 7 days when we can come before God in worship. That is what 'entering Gods rest' means. Worship him 'every' day of the week from sabbath to sabbath and from one new moon to the next new moon. Dont wait for a specific day to do it.... love and worship him with every day of your life.

It is possible that the Lord's Day is the seventh day of the week.
Maybe. I don't think so, though. The Apostles began meeting on the first day of the week to comemmorate His resurrection. In my opinion -- and that's all it is -- God wants us to devote one day each week to Him, as a day of rest, worship and other spiritually uplifting activities. I personally believe that it is important to Him that we do so, but I don't think He particularly cares which day of the week it is. It's the condition of our hearts that matters to Him and how we make one day each week different from all the others. Here's a suggestion for you... why don't you ask God?

So you can't do "work" even if it's something you do as a form of relaxation or entertainment?

I don't know about messianics but there are the traditional descriptions of "work" as it pertains to shabbat. I'm just obvoiusly copying and pasting. No sense it writing it all out. :D

Whether something is true or not should be determined not by feelings or sensations, but by God's Word. If you are a born-again believer in Jesus Christ you have already entered the rest of God. You need not keep the Sabbath requirement which was given as a part of God's covenant with the nation of Israel and for Israel alone.

For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Hebrews 4;10

I see what you are saying, and I believe in salvation by repentance alone so you do not have to worry about that, but what about Genesis 2:3, where God makes the seventh day of the week holy?

Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. Gen. 2:3

Below is an excerpt from an article which discusses this verse in the Bible and the subject in depth. You can link to the entire article if you are interested. I think the background of the source of this article gives extra insight into this issue because at one time this group advocated keeping the Sabbath and the OT feast days until they were led out of bondage and into biblical truth. It was a very amazing work of the Holy Spirit.

Was the Sabbath Commanded at Creation?

The Sabbath in Genesis

So the question is: Was the Sabbath commanded at creation? If so, it would seem to apply to all the descendants of Adam and Eve, to all humanity. If God wanted the first humans to keep the Sabbath, then it is more likely that he wants us to keep the Sabbath today. What do the Scriptures say? Genesis tells us:

· God created the world in six days.
· By the seventh day, creation was complete.
· God rested [the Hebrew verb used for "rest" is similar to the Hebrew noun for Sabbath] on the seventh day.
· He blessed the seventh day and made it holy (Genesis 2:2-3).

However, there are several things that Genesis does
not tell us, although some people have assumed or claimed these things.

· It does not say that humans rested or were told to rest.
· It does not say that humans were told to follow God’s example.
· It does not say that God taught Adam and Eve on the Sabbath.
· It does not say God created the Sabbath, or that humans kept it.
