Most of my meds interfere with alchohol, and I'm wary of the addictive personality that runs through my family.

I *love* daquiris, though! I've only had strawberry ones, but I want to try bananna!

Again, this is the very same reason I prefer the drug, when on it, I tend to force people into philosophical conversations and wont let them leave until I am done talking (which usually isn't until it's time for me to go home). I get extremely philosophical and all I want to do it talk..except most of my friends are usually drunk and are not of the rational capacity to sit and listen to me for too long.

And also, that's pretty much why I never got into smoking weed. Tons of my friends smoke pot all the time, and I can't stand it. It puts me in that dream-feeling state and I hate not being able to feel as if I'm in control of myself. I tend to prefer uppers to anything else.

I've never been around weed, but I know how easy it is to get me to begin the practice of sophistry. I've proven myself quite adept at talking about things I don't understand on this site :D. i'd hate to see what I would do if I ingested a drug lol (I tend to have shied away from them as well).

EDIT:

I have been around it, just not much, and because I wasn't part of it, people tended not to do that sort of thing around me, but they would tell me about it.

I hate to be the guy to ruin everyone's good time, but since this is a religious forum.....does anyone think that it is wrong to get drunk? Religiously I mean. I don't drink (used to) but don't now because of my faith for one and because of some of the reasons that have already been mentioned. Does anyone have a thought on this? Like I said, I don't mean to kill the vibe, but it is an interesting discussion.

"Beer is proof god wants us to be happy" - Benjamin Franklin

I don't believe in a "god" but I always get a chuckle out that one, it's one of my favorite qoutes by him, very human.

To be completely honest, I drink whatever I can get my hands on...probably because at my age, beggars can't be choosers. ;) I only drink with friends--never alone, and I only drink if the people I'm with are drinking too, assuming that I am not the designated driver.

I got pretty sick a couple months back, and now the very smell, let alone the taste of 'hard stuff' makes me want to ralf. I remedy this, not by staying away from the hard stuff, but by mixing it with Mocha Frappuccinos, which do a particularly good job of disguising the taste. Beyond that, I love wine, (from the standpoint of appreciation for it, not to get drunk off of), and I even like beer.

Cheers!

Well, Jesus drank.
He found it so important that when he couldn`t get a drink he`d turn water to wine.
:)

Alchohol (wine) is also a symbol of Christs blood.

Everything in moderation.

Well, actually, the Greek word used for the wine at the wedding feast, and the subsequent translation is that of "new wine". Which means that it was fresh squeezed and non alcoholic. Besides, if the wine were to be alcoholic wine, it would mean that (in volume) the amount made would be the eqivilent to about a keg and a half. That doesn't quite fit with the whole "do not be drunk with strong wine" command.

As far as the communion goes, I can be reasonably argued either way whether it was alcohol or not. But, the amount given was certainly not enough to get drunk off of.

You have been sorely misinformed. The word oinos means "wine." It doesn't mean "non-alchaholic" wine. It was used for wine in Homer, it was used in later Greek writers, it was used for wine in the Hellenistic era, and it was used after that. It means wine, plain and simple.
