Yes you are right I do have Bipolar Mood Disorder. I used to take medication but stopped it because it contributed to Class II obesity. Sometimes I feel quite happy and at other times desperate, in despair and occasionally aggressive. I also cry a lot. I have some troubles in my life. But it's generally sad mood for me.
I am scared of psychiatric medication due to the above reason. I am thinking of going for counselling sessions after Ramadan. As for any medicine I am taking 'Sensit'. It was recommended to me by a skin specialist who says that psychiatric medicines are harmful. Sensit is supposed to keep me calm but it isn't working either. I still am weak minded like before. So finally he recommended counselling sessions via a psychologist known to him.
Hi Draupadi
I’ve been Taking medication for over 11 years now, yes it can lead to obesity , I’m 90 Kg now, but keep in mind that I do not practice any sport, I intend to walk 3 miles every next day after Ramadan ISA,
Other than that I’m very good thanks God,
Look, there are many medicines curing bipolar, I attend to one of the best Doctors in Egypt, and what he described for me are the best in the world thanks God, they are not addictive,
You can also after the doctor consultation increase the dose of the medicine that does not cause obesity, and decrease the dose of the other medicine.
Ask your Doctor about Seroxat (the effective ingredient is: Paroxetine hydrochloride)
And Zyprexa(the effective ingredient is: Olanzapine)
Only After your doctor approval you can try them, the only problem is that they’re somehow Expensive,
What these medications do is that they are processed in the liver and due to this procession they stabilize the natural chemicals in the brain,
I do not agree with you Sister in your panic from medication, medication is very important, in addition to all your other activities.
May God help you Sister, by His mercy and will
Regards
Mahmoud
