I Counted the number of Bibles in my Home

I have 4 and I think they should count extra because I am an atheist ,
I understand points have to be deducted because the are not the same version, and to offset the 2 Qur'an , the Tanakh and of course my favourit the Monkey King :D

We've got several, all different translations. When I was growing up, however, we never had any. That is until I was 13 and my grandmother gave us a box of books which included a Good News For Modern Man (a paraphrase of the New Testament).

We Jews rarely have one book that covers the whole Tanach, each 'book' is on my shelf as a separate bound volume, starting with Genesis (Bere****) of which I have at least 5 versions with commentary. About 200+ such individual books on topics are in my bookcase, but it's all one Tanach so I have... one copy. ;)

Edit: Don't think I am boasting, I've not read all 200+ cover-2-cover, this is a reference library. Just wanted to point out a different take on # of 'bibles'.

I have 5 different Qur'ans, three different Gitas, couple of Tripatakas and about 30 or 40 bibles but then I am both a student of comparative religion and a theologian.

There are roughly 250 bibles in the building with me now, thank you Gideons.

There would be more but people keep stealing them........Why ?

It is popular belief that the ideons want their Bibles to be taken.

Unfortunately, I cannot find anything official (I.E. from the Gideons themselves) to support this theory.

I have no bible at home. And from all my friends and family I know only one guy who has one. He's a collector of (religious) books and the bible was definatelly not his first one.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I have (I think) 11 bibles, and then a bible that contains eight versions of the New Testament side by side. Most of my bibles are different translations.

I also have a Koran, the Book of Mormon, and probably 40 books on different religions from Buddhism to New Age (whever that is). I have several concordances and bible dictionaries.

I also have the complete works of Shakespeare, most of CS Lewis' writings, most of GK Chesterton's as well, lots of M Scott Peck, Kahlil Gibran, Peter Yancey, everything Bruce Feiler has ever written, some Carlin, Bill Bryson, Sohlzenitzen, tons of history books and biographies, including bios on JFK, Jefferson, most of Hitler's top henchmen, Stalin, etc.

I spend probably $80 a month on books. I'm running out of room!

I can attest that the Gideons would love it if they came into a hotel and every Gideon Bible that was there was gone. They would consider that as souls saved. I am very familiar with the Gideons, have family members that are part of it, been to their conventions etc...

I had 11 Bibles and 5 different author-books (Luke, etc). But I've got rid of most of them. I'm down to... 3 Bibles + 1 Qur'an + 1 Bhagavad Gita now. :D

So you are saved by stealing, ie breaking one of the basic tenants of their religion, if someone, having stolen the bible from the hotel, read it had a change of heart and brought it back I would say maybe it worked, but so far no one has.

The Gideons is a wonderful Godly organization.

And they give us free bibles which saves us money fulfilling the Hotel Federations requirement for reading material in the rooms.

I found another Bible, seriously, that's 20. This is fun, like easter egg hunting. I'm sure I have at least 5 more somewhere.

Edit: Oh yes, I have 3 in my car right now.
That's quite a fortress of words you've built up around yourself.
I wonder what that means?

My son had a project first day of school to count the number of Bibles in his home. We got to 19, but I'm sure there are more somewhere still packed away in the attic. Anyway can anyone beat that? If you can you have great faith. :clap

I wanted to get to 20 to make sure I had a spot in Heaven. :p
Does software count?
