It is no use to complain how unfair life is inside or outside religion. If you do it inside a religion it is really worse and more meaningless or somepart of religion is misunderstood I dont know.
The fact is there is always somebody who is in a worse condition and probably there is somebody in a better condition thinking and caring about them saying a prayer for them every night maybe and probably god is loving that scene and we too shall one day.

My stance: Who cares what caused it? The feeling is there...your bad feeling. Instead of trying to work out why it happened, and trying to reconcile this with your beliefs, acknowledge and work with your feelings.

I think he is upset because he is omitting the existence of those who are in better condition and keeping them in their healing circles or prayers or caring thoughts. Perhaps his friend is doing the same for those in worse condition than him and he isnt even aware. A huge healing circle everyone is involved and caring for one another..what a lovely thing to awaken into :)
On the other hand I really dont like approaches starting with a demand.sounds so childish. It also ****** me off. Such a weakness in my soul, I guess :)

I forgot about this topic until I got a PM that it was moved... I'd rather not think about it and I won't be reading this anymore.

How can we believe in Karma when it's so injust? How can someone be punished for something they know nothing of, that was done by another person in a past life? When they have lived this life so honestly, so good-heartedly and with honor?

I was always on the fence about Karma, but a friend of mine is seriously hurt and they believe in Karma. The one time in their life they were going to finally be happy, do what they want to do, an injury takes it away from them and they are not getting better... it's going to affect them for life. Everything they love to do, be outdoors, rock climb, ect, is taken away FOR LIFE.

How is that fair? How is that just? That is EVIL.

I will do anything, anything at all to help them. All medical knowledge is failing, so all that is left is appeals to the divine, or whatever may be out there.

I'm terrified now more than ever at the possibility of there being nothing above.

For karma to be true, eternal lives must also be true and I dont think there is such a thing as past lives or eternal souls.

But there is hope that things will get better...and there is certainly no need to conclude that these sorts of things are the result of karma.

Then the "karma" was physics at play. I can't see in this light anything else playing a role in how they got hurt, other than they were doing what they were supposed to at the time.

I think that is a reasonably good answer. In this world there are trials and tribulations that come from being in the world and those who take risks are likely to be hurt. I have to believe that anyone doing rescue work believes the risks and hurt are worth it.
