I don't know what to think... -Question-

I very much want to find a religion fitting of me, but as of yet have had troubles.
Pretty much, a quick outline of my beliefs:
  • I believe in a God/Goddess/Deities/Other all-mighty forms
  • I believe in ghosts, or spirits
  • I believe in demons
  • I believe in Magic/Magik
  • Same goes with faeries and fays and whatnot
  • I believe the earth has great power, and we just are too weak to channel it
  • I believe in a soul, and reincarnation, and, obviously, past lives
  • I believe that what you do in life will not affect you in death. We'll all go to the same place, to put it simply. None of this Heaven-Hell ****
  • I don't believe particularly in Heaven or Hell, though I do believe we all end up somewhere.
  • I believe that we as humans are the closest things to a God we are ever going to get to see/hear/touch/etc.
So, any direction to point me in? I can research it myself and all, I just need an aim.
Thank you anyone who read this.

P.S., could you please, please e-mail me instead of replying on this? That would be so much easier on me.
It's [email protected]
Please get back to me with whatever thoughts you may have, and thanks again.

Well at least you know what you believe and dont believe! I dont even know that fully!

It sounds to me like you believe in mutliple Gods which makes it easier for you, as it wipes out quite a few religions! Try looking at Paganism and Hinduism. Although I am not an expert on these, I just know they have different Gods/Goddesses etc. :)

I am not so sure that what you are after will be provided to you by a religion; what seems to come out (from what you are saying), seems to be a pretty "personalised" form of spirituality. That is why I don't fit any neat and tidy boxes. whay do you feel the need to fit under a label ? Is it because you want to share (as in a congregation), or is it because you feel alone?

Well, thanks. I'll check them out. =)

I guess it's because yeah, I want to meet people like me. I want a form to follow; a protocol. I don't know, I just think it would make the whole religious experience better if I found more people who believed what I believe.
I don't know if that seems logical to you, or stupid, or whatnot, but I don't mind either way. All I know is that I will check out the other person's suggestions and be grateful, and hopefully find something I fit into.

You can try the Ars Falcis, it is the best website to describe what I follow. read through it. if you like it, then you can talk to me, if not, then you can just put it out of your mind, no worries. now, be fairly warned, it will be very very hard for you to find other members of this religion. so i suggest hanging with vodouns, mediums, etc. you will find a few other necromancers, but not all of them will have read this site, but i suggest, learn from anyone you can, from thaie successes and failures.

One might query why you need a religion that caters to your beliefs. Are you not content? Do you not belong where you are right now?

Also, some beliefs are subject to change.

What is to say even indulging a religion will end your dukkha (dissatisfaction)?

As within, so without. If you are unsure or undecided inside you will only find more of that externally.

Be your own religion, that is my advice.

If I were you I'd investigate Paganism, Wicca, or possibly the Golden Dawn.

And I wouldn't post my email address on a publicly accessible thread for everyone to see.

Let go
Meander over to the Paganism and Wicca sections and read the overviews. Overviews of each religion are available under the "Individual Religion" section. Read those. Perhaps you will find whatever it is you are looking for.

I agree, it sounds as if Paganism is where you're naturally leaning. Feel free to ask questions in the Pagan room, and we'll answer them as best as we can :)

Well ShatterGlass, I would recommend doing what others have hinted on and explore ALL of the different threads and read up on the many different concepts and beliefs in them, as well as the most frequently discussed topics. Since you said you could research it yourself I would recommend identifying yourself with some of the basic teachings of the various traditions.

I don't mean for this to be condescending in any way of course, but I believe you should open yourself up to some beliefs that don't necessary coincide with what you believe in at the moment, just to see if they resonate with you at all. Opening yourself to the different faiths is a great way to learn more about your own thoughts and ideas as well as the new concepts the various faiths bring up.

And, this may sound a little strange, but if I were you I would study up on the basic concepts of the different sciences too. Its surprising what the studies of scientific cosmology and evolutionary biology can open you up to as well. Just my two cents.

I hope you find what you're looking for, ShatterGlass!

Here are the Pagan religions I can say something (even if it is only very little) about:
Wicca fits a lot of this but doesn't believe in demons per se. It does however believe in ghosts. It does however believe that we can channel power from the Earth. I think Druidism is very similar to Wicca but I have not researched it yet.

Germanic religions (e.g. Heathenry, Asatru, Odinism, Theodinism) don't believe in demons per se but they do believe in Giants who want to destroy the world. However, they do not believe in reincarnation. When you die (if you die in battle), you go to Valhalla (I can't remember off hand where you go if you don't die in battle).

I am not familiar enough to know if Native American religions believe in demons nor am I familiar with texts on them (they tend to be protective of others appropriating their religions).

There are several religions that have come from Africa (voudon, Santeria, Candomble) that might fit for you although I'm not sure if any believe in reincarnation.

I saw that BFD_Zayl answered you. He could say much better whether necromancy covers all of what you're looking for.

Hinduism doesn't believe the Earth is real so I don't think it believes that the Earth has any power. It also does believe that what you did in past lives do affect you future lives. Buddhism is an off-shoot of Hinduism so much of the same applies.

I also agree with Namaste. Pick ones that seem kind of close and see if they resonate for you.

One question for you: you say you believe in reincarnation but you imply you also believe in going someplace when you die. Most religions don't have any real concept of someplace when you die. It is just a sort of waiting area until you return to the wheel.

hope this helps.
