"The technology now would open up the use of HPM weapons on different weapon platforms and disable the capability of the adversary even before the hostilities commence. As the HPM technology proliferates, it is but natural that countermeasures like passive shielding of all electronic gadgets particularly used in weapon systems and supporting elements will become a norm. The countermeasures and defence against HPM weapons would call for better and sophisticated technology than the weapon system itself. With the wide-ranging research and development, the HPM weapon systems would soon mature to be fielded as war fighting machinery and provide for capabilities over comprehensive spectrum of warfare."

Weapon systems design was once my business.
One thing I learned.....
Whatever one side comes up with, the other side will counter.
And the efficacy of the latter is very hard to predict.
Politics & public reaction further muddy the waters.
So war isn't like a smooth road trip to Disney World.
When we plan how it will go, Cthulhu laughs at our hubris.
Trump has already authorized the beginning of this war.
He & staff had heated 'discussions', & it was called off...for now.
(Check your news sources. It happened.)
No doubt Russia & China (now good buddies) view this as not
just heinously immoral, but also an opportunity to gain power in
the region.
In the name of justice, with a wee bit'o profit, would they took Iran's side?
What would you advocate if we had to battle them too?
Note:
An engineer I know worked on a project designing hardware specifically
designed for a boots on the ground invasion of Iran. If this is rather
common knowledge in the engineering community (not a secret project),
we should suppose that Iran is aware, & planning to bloody our noses
in self defense.
Consider also that because we've used nerve agents (by proxy) against
them, we've thus green lighted their using the same on us. It's potentially
a much more deadly & costly war than the one we waged against Iraq.
