I just couldn't do it.

I'd like to offer my apologies to all who tried to help me. I sincerely wanted to try and become a Muslim. But I couldn't. I just couldn't do it.
I see a deep beauty and gentleness in Islam but I cannot make it mine. My worship is on the high mountains and on the big waves. Peace, calm, orderliness and regularity are wonderful things. But they are not me
I believe deeply and earnestly in God. I try, but whatever fashion I was made in seemingly makes it impossible for me to fit into any group.
I belong on the wind and the wind will take me where it will.
I am embarrassed by my rapid failure and I apologize.

hi :) nice to hear from you, Stephen.

imo there is no need to apologize. it is something between you and your Rab. it is understandable that you were excited and wanted to share with us as you're sharing now. that shows you are honest person but you do not need to do that. this is a private matter.

don't be sorry. that's how we get to know ourselves.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, Stephen, but why do you feel you have to belong to any particular organization?

You don't really need to apologize, Stephen. We are all in a state of search- even those of us who know which faith we are of. Seeking doesn't have to be a negative thing, seeking can be a positive thing. God, above all, knows your heart.
At the same time, however, I feel as though as none of us truly 100% fits into any category. I am a Christian, but I also study some of the teachings of Buddhism and Hinduism. Maybe you should just go with the flow (called wu wei, I think)as they say in Taoism- the water will always flow, even if it has to go around a rock. :)

First find yourself and peace will follow.....You can't make yourself be anything but when you find the right religion you will know it.....
I wish you the best and keep on diligently with your search....;)

Dear Stephen,

Doing anything for the first time can be hard. Like when we first go to school, its hard to get up early, study some boring subjects and do homework and stuff. At that stage of our life we like to skip school and go out wander in the parks or sleep in our comfy beds. But the thing is if we don't go to school then we won't have a future in the world.

The whole point of life is to work hard for a better future. Doesn't everybody work hard to earn money?? Don't you work hard in this world for a better future??

Only with hard work and determination can you achieve a better future. Im not talking about Islam alone. Even if you belong to any religion of the world, you have to be determined in it. Only then you will have a better future in the life after this life.

Even if you don't convert to Islam, you will have to be determined in your belief in God. Because if you are not, then sooner or later due to some unfortunate event you might get astray.

Cheers

Welcome back, haven't seen you for a while!

Sorry to hear you couldn't do it, but no worries - we'll see where fate takes you, and I wish you best of luck being on the wind (Sounds very poetic, on the wind :D)!

I can understand your difficulty fitting into one group, I feel the same way.

There is no need to apologize Stephen that's your own life and you are free to follow whatever path you want. There is no compulsion in Islam. No one can enforce you to embrace Islam you have to do it with you own willingness.

I believe deeply and earnestly in God.

May Allah, the One you believe in guide your way to where there is your happiness!

I belong on the wind and the wind will take me where it will.

Seek guidance and have some will!

Don't minimise god by stuffing him into a religious box. You didn't need religion to find your belief in god, so why do you feel you need it define your relationship with him?

If he does indeed take an interest in us on a personal level, then I see no reason for religious rights and customs... just be with him... simple.

I don't think someone should 'work hard' at trying to believe something they don't. Further why should Stephen be 'determined' in his belief in god? He believes, that's great, but he shouldn't feel that he has to hold onto this belief no matter what happens... he's a free man. He can choose to put his hands of his ears and say, "Lalalala I can't hear you" with regards to religion/god, or he can simply listen and come to his own conclusions.
