This was a very good movie, it was not based on his discoveries and science, but about his religion.
It was a dramatic coming-of-age film on how Charles Darwin evolved from a pious orthodox religious man of faith into gradually doubting theism and his own scriptures and the psychological effects it left on him, still being a believer and then starting realize inconsistencies in the scripture, that they didn't keep on touch with reality.
The movie is quite old and on cassette, I would think it's from 2003 and it's homemade by some film students working on a film from many years ago. I tried to look up for it on Wikipedia and IMDb, but the movie virtually doesn't exist - I think it was originally made by some film students and I somehow bought the tape, the cassette is from a movie called Roger Rabbit, but the content is from the movie - probably is homemade and they recorded over the Roger Rabbit movie and over the years they lost it and I got it through a market.
Talented amateur students, it looked like a professional movie, though. Perhaps as good quality as a TV movie. If I can one day, I will upload it on YouTube. Do you perhaps know anything about the movie? What's your opinion from what you heard about it?
